For Panthers it wasn't one or the other. They obviously had a plan but he wanted the money and halves spot.

The biggest thing out of this is Panthers should get cap compensation for all the years and money put into developing him then being lured away after less than 10 games.

If Panthers had a plan, they would have already signed him and given him more game time. They didn't, what did they expect?

I'm still unsure why people are so convinced Burton is the next Andrew John's.
He looked good to me but so do many other rookies. Kyle Flannagan was meant to be a star also. Same goes for Dylan Brown. All may become that but I think some will fail for sure. D.Brown I haven't seen do anything to make me go wow.
The thing is Panthers must of rated Luai higher. They could of locked Burton up otherwise and let Luai free.

There is a thing called a salary cap. You need some players who aren't stars and are ion less then 300k in your top 17.

Maybe so but in a premiership window you don't take gambles like that. $400k or so we offered gets a couple of decent depth players or at the very least should see us keep Naden now

Lol the dogs paid what for him? He is worth 250k Max at this stage of career.
Honestly what does he offer? He is lanky and has little pcms with just normal defense. No real skill. He is firey and that's about all

Exactly. Plenty of fans over rate their own players. A lot of NRL players are of similar level. Of course you have special talents like Kikau for example.
Spencer is a big powerful middle. So is Leota and Tetevano. What makes Spencer a better prospect? Age? Is he the next Toumolo?
Forwards have a few golden years and then fade. Look and Tapua. Best prop in game just about and now wouldn't be top 10. Even JT who is the best middle in game had a poor season.

They expected a very good half to play outside the spine on less money. I was hopeful but it wasn't realistic.

I tend to agree with this. Leniu is all potential, he's been decent off the bench but rarely has he got decent minutes.

Regarding Hethrington played 1 game with Penrith suspended. Played with Warriors also suspended.

So suspended twice in 2020. Not good enough for an NRL player.

I don’t want to be rude, but you talk a shit tonne of nonsense. If you knew anything about my posts you’d know I’m very cautious in overrating juniors. Burton is one of the only exceptions, he’s genuinely the most talented Penrith junior I’ve seen for 30 years.

I tend to agree with this. Leniu is all potential, he's been decent off the bench but rarely has he got decent minutes.

It happens at every club. As a Parra fan I see everyone call for Kafusi to get more minutes. But he has no more impact then any of the older journeymen who are part of the squad like Gower for example. And yes being young they will get better and improve but do you want to waste paying them 500k whilst they slowly develop? May as well sign someone already developed and proven at that coin.

Not sure where you form that view from I’ve tried to put out a positive spin post Gould and as it transpired we had a great season in 2020.

I acknowledge I never for one minute imagined such a great season we all enjoyed but that is ancient history and as it stands even not knowing the make up of our roster for next season our brains trust has failed us.

You were delighted to see Gould gone and here we are but two seasons on and we are in a world a pain with a roster in 2021 which will bear no resemblance to the overall roster that got us to the GF and that is very sad.

There is nothing that can be said to justify what has happened in this past month.

Serious mistakes have been made and there is no defending it.

Obviously Ivan think Jerome has more talent and Nathan. They would of known Burton was coming through the ranks.They blocked his path.
Gould did say once Burton will be the best of the lot. Andrew Johns also said D.Brown will be the next super star of the game.

Time will tell.
