He's a good fit for us & Moylan seems a good fit for the Sharks. Both players have something to prove, I'm hopeful we'll see the best of Maloney (or as close to given his age).

IMO 7. Cleary 6. Maloney is currently stronger then 7. Cleary 6. Moylan, so it doesn't diminish our chances of Top 4 by any means.

Moylan is my favourite player since Fittler so I don't like to admit it but I think you are right. There's so much experience and success with Maloney I don't see how it can't be a benifit.

NOW that Matt Moylan has signed with Cronulla, expect Penrith to waste little time extending the deals of the two players who had started to enjoy wearing his No. 1 and No. 6 jerseys.

Tyrone May and Dylan Edwards are off contract at the end of next year — and officially free to be targeted by rival clubs — but are expected to stick around at the Panthers for a few years yet.

Yes please.

It's good to hear. Throw Cleary in and develop a future 6 we are looking good.

Gus doesnt need to tell us what the issue is. Just not lie about there being none.

Simply ignore the rumours and say nothing, or confirm that Moylan is exploring his options for 2018. The issue with lying to the fans is the club can't be believed anymore.

They lied about TMM. They lied about Moylan. Who's going to trust what Gus has to say now?

I/None of us know the truth about the TMM.

They didn't lie about Moylan though. We tried to keep him & assumed he was, hence being used in the marketing campaign & Gus claiming he was going to stay, but he wanted to go. If a player that is known to have attitude issues & has previously been disruptive among the playing group , would you keep him against his will purely because you had earlier claimed he was staying? What good does that do the playing group & the wider club?

Moylan may go on and do very well at the Sharks as well, but that doesn't necessarily mean he would of done the same thing for us where he clearly wasn't happy.

I'm the same, the more i think about the potential signing of Maloney, the happier i am. It's been a while since we've had a real 'winner' in the squad.

That's the thing. Look at moses. Played like absolute crap because he wanted out to the point it looked like he threw games, went to the Eels and looks like a really good half. If their head and heart aren't in it it's probably for the best.

Guy Missio named as Intrust Super Premiership NSW Head Coach for the upcoming season.
Missio was assistant coach under Garth Brennan as the ISP Panthers won the Premiership and State Championship in 2017.

"I'm excited to take on the role of Head Coach and I'm really looking forward to the challenge," Missio said.
"As this club proved last year, we have a lot of young guys here who are ready to step up and take their opportunity.
"With the youth comes enthusiasm and I think it will be a great year ahead."
Missio's association with the Panthers began during his successful tenure as Head Coach of Windsor Wolves from 2010 to 2013.
In 2014 he joined the club as NSW Cup Assistant Coach and tasted immediate success as Panthers won the Premiership.
Missio then spent two years as NYC Assistant Coach with a dominant Holden Cup side that made back-to-back Grand Finals.

Panthers is delighted to announce the appointment of Ben Harden as Jersey Flegg Head Coach for the upcoming season.

With the National Youth Competition making way for the state-based Jersey Flegg under-20s competition in 2018, Harden will perform the role in conjunction with his ongoing duties as Academy Head Coach.

A local junior whose burgeoning playing career with Panthers was cut short by injury, Harden has progressed through the club's coaching ranks since commencing as SG Ball Assistant Coach in 2013.

The 31-year-old was Head Coach of the Panthers SG Ball side which claimed the premiership and national title in 2016.

Depends if Maloney has anything left in the tank. His 2017 was very average, was that due to sooking about being underpaid (something Moylan never let effect his on field performance) or is he just washed up?

Not if Merrin returns to 2016 form and Latu stays. Aussie Jim is a peaheart and a lost cause though imo

Mckendry will be back, hopefully Fish stays injury free, Cartwright will be fresh and in a better head space.

Im super excited to watch Kik’s next season, I think he will be outstanding.

Cleary & Maloney have the potential to be amongst the best halves in the game.

Our outside backs kill it.

We are a stronger team next year, I don’t get why you are so down in the dumps.

Without too much of a told you so, it’s worth remembering a lot of people were sceptical about these rumours when they first came up.

Some rumours were posted from people who at least had some industry contacts and they were dismissed out of hand.

Perhaps, given this is a rumours thread, people won’t be so quick to laugh them off next time. Seriously there was so much smoke to this.

I think the reason people on here laughed off the Moylan rumours were because our GM stated our captain would be 100% here next year. So did his manager.
Plenty of people on here rightly thought 'hang whats this journo doing still digging up this story' its been denied by the GM and the players agent a few times. And even by his fellow teammates.
He is staying surely?
Some of the rumours were garbage tbh.
Moylan will go to Manly because he only wants to play under Barrett.
Moylan only wants to go to the Tigers because he only wants to play under Cleary.
Brennan is taking Moylan to the Gold Coast.
He wants to play Fullback for the Bulldogs.
Maybe that was the player agent trying to drum up interest or the journo's peddling shit. I don't know

I have no problem debating a rumour but if the club denies it again and again you get sick of hearing about the story.

I think given Gould's track record here is the lesson. If a player is rumoured to be on the outer and he is under contract and the rumour keeps coming up despite being denied. Look out.
Gould has form with denials, then the player gets released months later. Lewis, Coote, Jennings, Moylan just to name a few.

Hopefully we can get them and Cleary to sign new deals before next season... and hopefully the club and player both are happy to honour them.

I use to get excited when we re-signed our best players. Not so much any more because quite a few of them don't see out their deals.

Not that I want to bring up old news. But after this Moylan fiasco do you still think this was just gossip?

Something must of happened. You don't drop him to reserve grade and put up the for sale sign ASAP.
Remember Moylan wasn't the direct replacement at 5/8 for when he was dropped. Carty was.

And Moylan has been on the nose with the coach for a long time if we believe the press. Surely Gus could see the need to keep Martin in case the shit hit the fan. Or maybe he was thinking May all along.
