I know he’s made a few poor decisions, but I can’t think of anyone else in the league that is more mis-quoted than Gus Gould.

Are you referring to the speech he made at the presentation night? If so, he certainly didn’t make a blanket statement like that.

People make mistakes. Saying we won’t recruit anyone else and then recruiting someone else anyway is pretty damn low on the seriousness scale. Gould gets a pass from me.

Would much rather focus on the quality of the recruiting than whether it was correctly reported or not. (I have no opinion on that front - don’t have a clue who any of them are.)

I’ll try and find the speech but it sounded very definite to me.

I get where you’re coming from, but I don’t think a little bit of transparency can hurt.

He doesn’t have to give up his whole hand.

Think footy can take itself way too seriously, filtering down to the players who don’t want to give many interviews etc. The game needs to sell itself a bit.

Pretty that that's the same thing. We know not to take what he says at face value is the end result either way.

On another topic I bought the Panthers 2018 calendar and the misses and I agreed to go to a few games next year. I'm an addict and need help.

Its Gus' job to lie but he straight up contradicts himself all the time and makes the club and himself look stupid. The bigger issue is while he started well the last 2 or so years he has made a LOT of stupid decisions. You can tell he doesn't have a plan or if he does its not really working and he has to make silly snap decisions all the time to try to cover himself.

Anyways we still have a side capable of winning the comp IF we have almost no injuries in the backs or halves and we can fix our attack. Has anyone officially been brought in to help yet? Hook is way out of his depth

If the story in the Weekender is close to the mark then I can forgive the smokescreens and bullshit. It's not like Gus could come out and say Moylan is a flog who would rather be on a roof with Fergo & Duges than putting in at training & rehab. Not a good look if a deal cant be done. I'd say Flanno will have his hands full next year, they just need to get Fergo & Carney back. Julian Oneill as assistant coach.

Only 1 will play regular NSW Cup even. I have no idea why they announced them as new recruits. St Marys will have them all. I guess no new signings do that
