Ivan told the players " i dont feel good about this". ... being fond of WT and how "this has hurt people i care about"
No doubt...but not feeling good about this isn't exactly the most joyous and clear headed way to go to the next job....as was when ..in his one and only previous statement...he said he went to that first meeting on the understanding it was about Nathan and didn't have any idea at all that it was about the coaching position even though Gus had said Ivan initiated things ( hence needing to sack hook immediately) . Right when this first kicked off Guss said publicly that he could completely understand WT and their supporters being angry...yes but beyond that there's more than a few notable people around this game including some aligned media folk who can't believe how this has been ( mis) handled. ...Gus says he had nothing to do with "the Ivan situation" but it's been he who has kept changing the story. His and Ivan's reputations are diminished ( certainly Ivan"s as many commentators have suggested)..Gus wont care as he'll just spin it till it sounds right but i'll bet Ivan is hurting over it all and will for a long time.
Anyway...good luck to Ivan...the pressure on he and Nathan will be over the top but i guess that's what the big bucks are for .

While everyone here is backslapping, your new /old coach is not strong enough to say goodbye to his old players in person.

Another gift from the free west’s tigers forum to fascist Pantheria!

There is things in that thread of Gus' were people are quoting him things he said personally in either the presser, 100% footy or his podcast. He is trying to put them off as listening to media... So I'd be wary of believing him.

You Wests fans really need to harden up, I remember it was only a few months ago you were all laughing like little school girls thinking you were going to get Nathan Cleary, a player we have developed for 8 or so years, but as soon as the tables turned you all became sour little bitches, move on, I mean after all you all seem to think Maguire is an upgrade all of a sudden. (Denial is always the first step I guess).

Did the Wests Tigers apologise to Michael Potter and Jason Taylor?
Yep. Contracts haven't stopped Tigers from sacking coaches or from getting rid of players early. And then going and getting those players back while still under contract elsewhere.

A contract isnt worth shit these days. But for some reason if a club wants to break it. Everyone is fine with it. A player/coach wants to and everyone loses their shit and suddenly that individual is an evil untrustworthy merkin.

Seems like a 50/50 split. Even less would agree with the 5 years
5 years is stupid. If a contract meant anything. At our club of all places a 5 year contract is simply a minor obstacle.

He's only coaching us 5 years from now if he has done a great job and taken us to a grand final. If he's as shit as everyone thinks he will simply be sacked and paid out. He will get 2 seasons at minimum. But if results aren't there he isn't getting 5.

The other option which I think is our goal. Is in 3 or 4 years he replaces Gus and finishes up coaching.

How f**king dim are you?

It's the off-season. His players are scattered all over the world on holidays. How is he going to track them all down to deliver ghix news in person before it is officially announced.

Gus is 61. Fletcher isn't far off. I struggle to think of a team where the 2 senior guys are as old.

I had hoped Ivan would come here with a goal to move him into one of those roles. Allowing Nathan and Ivan to work together like they want and freeing us up to get a different coach.

I hate when coaches are too friendly with players. Of course John and Martin Lang worked but a prop is far different then a prop

The payout to Griffin was large, the payout to Cleary will be large.

I hope they run the other financials better than this.
