Haha, probably, yes.

I’m only saying it’s disappointing in context of how many players have been moved on.

Some of the deals we signed players to were just very silly, especially the RCG deal.

Re Fifita, he’s off contract at the end of 2020. So the broncos don’t need to fit in a big deal next year, only from 2021.
RCG deal was disappointing but not fussed about Blake anymore, whilst we’re paying him a small percentage to sit on his arse for the next 3 to 6 months Parramatta are paying him a lot more :grinning: and if he needs a full reco he won’t be any good next year as it takes ages to get your confidence back

I agree about the Reggie deal. It was (if true) way over. Reggie loved him to bits when in our colours, especially when he first came unto the scene. He must have thought that Gus was Santa Claus. I wouldn't mind a pommy front rower with some ball playing skills.

600 seems light to me, Maloney came right off the books, Clearys deal kicking in I guess. If Rcg was on anywhere near 900k we would been over for sure plus Maloney was signed for next year...could’ve been interesting.

My problem with the Blake situation is we need to go right back out and sign a centre.

It may pay off if we can sign someone better, though.

600k is a bit disappointing if that’s correct.

Plus it’s odd we’d be looking for a 5/8, hopefully that’s incorrect. Centre is far more important.

Remember though we have more money to spend if we sign a player who’s off contract at the end of 2020. In that situation we’d likely take on their existing deal for 2020 and upgrade them from 2021. (Assuming they can get a release for 2020)

We would have more then that. Even if we are paying 25% of RCG and Blake.

13 players gone on minimum wage is $1.3m. We know atleast 5 of them would be on way more

They do if they want to front load deals to make it less of a hit later

You’re a glass half empty kind of person aren’t you, 600k is triple what the broncs have and they got to try and do a deal with Croft and Fifita, it will buy us a centre and front rower if we’re smart about it

All about value. Even better when another club picks up part of the tab.

It will be a bit more than that. Could be another departure soon.

If you think about the salaries we’ve lost

RCG - 800k
Maloney - 800k
Blake - 500k
DWZ - 500k

That’s 2.6 million

Then you need to subtract what we’re paying of some of those deals

Approx 500k

then subtract Apisai’s deal

Approx 500k

That’s 1.6 million left

Remember the suggestion we were over the cap by 1 million next year? I think that’s looking quite accurate.

Obviously all the figures are give or take a bit, but to me it’s fairly clear we were over the cap by a decent margin in 2020.

I agree. I think I read that somewhere early this year (maybe even Gus himself) saying that 'things were going to be very tight. (talk about understatement lol )
