That would be the perfect situation imo.

A veteran back to show leadership to the kids and Grevsmuhl a year early would be boss.

Nah definitely not a fan of Hiku. Solid player. Reasonably versatile. But not really an improvement on what we have and it just holds back players with more potential.

Supposedly we are enquiring about Farah. If we could get him for a third of his value or less I think he would be a massive signing. Segeyaro would still be our number one hooker. But a player like Farah as a bench hooker and backup for $300k or less would be huge. Segeyaro goes down and you have an 80 minute Origin hooker to replace him with.

I know he has like no fans at all on this site. Would also mean our young guys drop a spot in the pecking order. But as ot stands now if Segeyaro got an injury and missed 6+ weeks I would be worried at our ability to cover him. Korisau last year got a fair run due to injuries. So I think Farah for a reasonable contract would end up being a smart buy. I don't think any of our backups could play NRL on a weekly basis just yet.

No thanks to Farah. Deadset could not support the Panthers if he was playing with us.

re: the bold above, Wallace to hooker, Soward to half, TMM to 5/8.
IMO Wallace played his best footy under Griffin at Hooker anyway, and we can still have Peachey on the bench bringing some dummy half scoots to speed things up if need be.

I'd have no problem with Farah under Cleary, I'm unsure if Griffin could sort him. It's not going to happen anyway, if it did I'd hope we play him in the halves and lose Wallace.

Grevsmuhl a chance to come early.

Grevsmuhl could make way for Burgess

CHRIS Grevsmuhl has emerged as the latest player who could be squeezed out of South Sydney to accommodate the return of Sam Burgess to Redfern. Grevsmuhl has committed to join Penrith in 2017 however the NRL club is understood to be keen to have the Indigenous All Star with them under new coach Anthony Griffin for 2016.
The Panthers recently turned down the services of fellow Souths back-rower Chris McQueen as they focused on the immediate recruitment of 22-year-old Grevsmuhl.
Souths continue to struggle to free up cap space to pave the way for Burgess’ comeback to the NRL, despite releasing former Kangaroo Dylan Walker earlier this week.
Penrith have some space on their own books for next year and could become a new home for Grevsmuhl.
At a Penrith fan day at Panthers Leagues on Saturday, Griffin was saying little about the future of Grevsmuhl.
However, the former Brisbane mentor admitted the Panthers remained active in the player market.
“That (a possible move for Grevsmuhl) is probably more a question for Souths than us,” Griffin said.
“At the moment, we have a little bit of cap space which everyone knows. If we get a chance to use that positively on the future of the club, we will do that.”
McQueen has been shopped around to rival clubs, but Panthers boss Phil Gould said earlier this week the club had opted to pass on the services of the former Queensland State of Origin representative.
McQueen has also been turned down by Gold Coast, but there is speculation those talks have restarted as the Rabbitohs become more desperate to clear the way for Burgess.

Everywhere talks as though he is officially a Panther in 2017, and even Anthony Griffin has spoken as though it's official. But the club hasn't actually announced it yet have they?

Hopefully we get him for 2016. Signing players over a year in advance is just shit for fans of both teams. I guess we haven't announced it for possibly that reason. Just a shame that the information has to get out so early. Both sets of fans would have mixed feelings watching a player that has signed elsewhere carve up for that year. But atleast the mid season deadline to backout has been removed.
