Can't see Panthers matching the Raiders offer for him. Not sure I would want us to either to be honest. We already have Sam Mckendry who hasn't played to his potential in a couple of years, we don't need another player who is a shadow of his former self.

Then again, he could turn out to be another Petero Civenociva for us!!

When did Petero ever play poorly?

In his mid 30s after retirement he was playing better footy than Tamou the past 2 years. Tamou in his breakout season was a beast. He has been average since though.

If we signed him I would give him the BOTD. But honestly I don't think he would be a good value signing.

agreed we already have Mckendry under performing and if we opt for a big name prop, Myles at least provides the mongrel we could use.

Oh I agree! It was more in reference to the concerns raised about James Tamou that he's a shadow of his former self.

On Triple M the other night, there was a rumour being peddled that... wait for it, that Cleary will be going to Manly next year and Barrett will be his replacement.

FMD.

^That's one way to interpret Gus' glowing endorsement of Barrett, I guess. I suppose Manly need a big name to oust Tooves. I'd be very surprised though, if Ivan walked out at this stage, after years of assembling and developing a decent squad.

Wishful thinking on behalf of Manly more than anything else.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're talking to him, they're probably talking to 15 coaches given how determined they seem to be to punt Tooves.

When is Cleary contracted until anyway? Not that I can see him wanting to leave after the side he's put together.

He is tied up for another 2 or 3 years. If he did go Brennan would be his logical successor. I can't see it happening Manly are a rabble. Cleary knows he is on a good thing here if the troops stay fit.
I would think he want to hang around for any success here in the future after all the hard work he and Gould have done.

It always pissed me off that he never got a proper chance despite dominating NSW Cup. He was a lot more talented then what we had at the time and it was dumb to let him leave. He's not as good as Soward, but he would be a step up on every other half at the club.

Just like Wade Graham before him. Ridiculous decision to let them go.
