"Horrie" Hastings was one of the more unassuming and at the same time,great players of his era.

A highly respected half that simply knew his,and his teammates role inside and out.

If his son Jackson only turns out to be half as good as he was,the Panthers will be on a winner with this lad.

Good signing for you guys. Rumour was he had attitude problems at the dragons and the same has been whispered at the roosters. Whether this is correct is anyones guess, but he is a talent.

I have always felt Sam Scarlett was too small for the top grade and probably still do but watching him on the weekend against the Mounties in NSW Cup the kid has ticker.

It was funny watching him he really aimed up in defence and while he didn't make every tackle he attempted it wasn't thru lack of effort.

He didn't feature with an all round kicking game but of his kicks in general play he kicked two 40/20's.

He is certainly not afraid to take the line on, not always effective but still not afraid to have a crack.

He is one of those number seven's who play in the Toyota/Holden Cup or whatever it is called who for the most part will never make the step up but he is certainly gutsy, no question.

The rumours about Hasting's are interesting and he obviously has a lot of talent but at the same time has had some 'issues' and I am not sure he would be the right fit for us at this stage.

What are your guys thoughts on Peachey and cartwright in same side? Both great players but neither are traditional forwards. So lack impact when they come on.Both are fancy type of guy but lack grunt.

Lot of your forwards are mobile but small. Im a fan of lewis brown and Yeo. and even that young guy.RGC. They just need too fill out thou. They all have good size.
If Merrin does come I think the pack will be great.Very mobile and defense will be tough.Still no hard nuts but just means play diff style with a lot of offloads rather than the power game.

Hastings would be a great partner for soward until Moylan eventually goes into the halves. Wallace I don't rate.Id rather Korisau stay as offers a little more spark.

I bumped into James Tamou this morning at world gym brisbane. Made a comment about how he looks good in black and should join the Panthers. He smirked and said funny you say that. Not sure what it meant but got the feeling his manager has had talks with Panthers along with Raiders. Food for thought.
