here's a question for you, how would you have rated the cowboys recruitment for this year if the question was posed to you in the off season, and yes it is relavent to what we're talking about..

The only way to please some people would be if the eels went out and signed 17 rep players, thus blowing our cap away. Hate to see how some would run a business.

And I'd bet both nuts you would still have the same serial merkins whinging about every signing.

I think Paulo is a good 2nd tier addition, at least he is young and has size, speed and skill.

I can understand if we declared that they were ordinary purchases next year but how do you come to the conclusion that these guys will not do anything at our club under the current coaching staff this early out? these are the players he wants to work with and he should be given the opportunity to do so, in saying all that I'm very confident that there are still a few more announcements to be made, not sure when but confident that there's still enough scope within our cap to fill.

if we'd signed Kalifa Failoa loa and Tariq Sims last year would you have called them nuffy signings??

Please stagger, don't tell me u comparing tautai to Tariq sims. Please.

Sims last year if my memory is correct was tearing the NYC to sheards. Tautai is a dud ffs. 4 weeks ago we were laughing at him been picked in the forwards for the sharks. Now he signs with us and he is the next best thing to sliced bread. Kid has hands like feet.

I would of been happier with champion, fifita, t Rex, d Williams. Any of those. If you're interested to know.

as is Taulima, who both have been playing first grade for their respective clubs very recently, does anyone know how Paki Afu and Brad Murray are doing at the moment??

Ok I agree. We have made our main signings already for next year.

We should definitely be a top 8 side, if not top 4 side next year.

I am very much looking forward to having a much more competitive side next year.

:lol::lol:...

yep, good one you knew Tariq was going to tear it up this year didn't you??? ;-)

and I'm not comparing both players individually just signings in general...and I'll say it again, Taulima is NOT in our fulltime payment structure, capish???

Case in point. Please refer to the post above yours.

ok, lets go through the list...

Fifita: would be great no doubt, but why would a 4 time grand final winning coach want to offload hime, is there something we don't know??

Williams D: it's late June, he still hasn't signed a contract for next year, why??

Williams T: As above.

Champion: signed a rich contract with the titans and is now struggling to maintain form for Melbourne, in fact struggling to make the first grade side but still a good player.

It's all relative but for depth and what we reportedly paid for Taulima he is basically a free gift so can't see how we can possibly go wrong even if he never cracks 1st grade. In any case it will be interesting to see how he responds to different treatment this time around.

Never seen anything of Paki and Murray, or Manase for that matter, so will just write them off as gambles that didn't come off in the 2nd tier turnover each year.

No, I didnt know, but the cowboys knew something. And Ill also say it again, Taulima is a dud, a dime a dozen player, why would we waste our time money and resources on him.

Do me a favour. Go to the West tigers forum and ask them is losing Fifita for blair, worth it. Let alone Gibbs, Heinington and Fulton. I cant help it if Sheens has lost his marbles.

The 2 williams boys. Manly were trying to snap up Hopa, now that his future is sorted, Im sure at least 1 of those 2 will be resigned.

Champion. Would of walked straight into our team, even if in bad form.

My point is stagger, that we should of made 1 or 2 more good signings, to compliment the sandow signing.

Maybe you should ask him because he HAS offloaded him. Fifita signed with Cronulla last week.

well why did we waste the same resources on a kid who struggled to make the bulldogs NYC team??

well the cowboys knew something that everyone else didn't and I'm sure Kearney and Nolan knows a bit more than any of us about what they can get out of the players they purchase, I'm prepared to wait and see how it transpires..duds like Woolnough, Lett, Tim Robinson and Cuthbertson are all currently having decent years by their standard coompared to previous years, why is it not possible for blokes like Taulima, Paulo, Roberts and Esi do the same at our club??

I wonder what the future lies with Maguire, Humble, and Lasalo. It appears Reddy will go from reports earlier in the year. And I cannot see Hicks, Pele, and Manukafoa retained. Whatuira, Mitchell, and Robson are already gone. Still leaves a large chunk of our top 25 squad open.

And the point that Nolan has a good track record in regards to the Broncos. Bennett had to sign Tariq Sims, Ben T'Eo etc because their junior base was horrible and they had nothing decent playing in the Q Cup to back up their NRL team.

It then gave the club some time to sign and develop young players like Hala, Gillett for example who were cast off from another NRL club. Obviously Nolan has an idea on what player can cut it in the NRL.
