Given Kurt Falls has been given a development contract that could have gone to another I don't see why the club would offer another halfback the spot for next year. You'd think the club would have made Williams an offer back then used the dev contract on someone like Jenkins if that was the plan. It seems pretty clear the plan is to give Falls a year in our squad to try and mold him into Cleary lite. Just do all the structural stuff Cleary does for the team without any of the extra brilliance I would assume would be the aim. He's a specialist halfback not a halfback/five eight so he's well suited to it.

Brandon Wakeham. Yeah he'd be decent as well.

I'd not seen the resemblance before, but I don't think I'll ever unsee it now.

Wakeham, that’s the one. Yep I was the same when someone pointed it out to me I’d never noticed it before but now can’t unnotice it, dogs left him in Sydney so he’s on the outer there.

Yep would be interested in Wakeham also.
On Falls I agree he looks like being the plan to be Clearylite but would be keen to have someone experienced sitting there if needed/there to mentor our young halves. Wouldn’t be the worst having Williams (or similar), Falls and Puru off the bench in Cup.

I dont think he is a halfback, we have falls for that. He is a 6, he has got good vision and skill he has just been stuck in a shit situation. I think if Romey went down you could throw him in there next to Cleary and he would do well as a back up.

Connor watson is off contract..the chooks want him back and newie want to keep him.

Would love to sign him. I said at the start of the year i think hes the best utility in the comp. I still think he is.

Can play anywhere in the backline well. Has played a lot of dummy half and 5/8 and can play lock.

He is quite quick and plays a real up tempo style. Would love to see him in a panthers jersey.

Hes been on of newcastles best over last few years in a pretty average and injury ravaged tesm.

Really think hed kill it in a top set up well run club. And robinson doesnt go after someone unless they are quality or have potential.

Hed be worth some sort of offer. Probably cant match newcastle money but coming to a top 4 premiership potential quality club could have sway.

An upgraded May so I'd take him easily.

I was shot down at the start of the year for saying that.

I like tmay and he provides good cover for injury but he really doesnt offer anything coming on if theres no injuries.

Connor is a legitimate x factor and has been in a shit team. Would look much better with us. Definitley doesnt have kennys or mays defence but hed be much quicker around the ruck if at the least he was just giving api a break.

He also has a very decent kicking game which i dont mind your 9 or 14 doing every now and than when teams arent expecting it. Cam smith obviously was the master at it. Not saying watson is that good but it keeps teams in two minds.

One of the podcasts I listen to evaluates NFL quarterbacks using the 'Dalton Line'. The Dalton Line being named after Andy Dalton who is definition of a slightly above average player who you would accept as the bare minimum in a playmaking role with decent pieces around him.

I'd say that the 'Watson Line' would be the equivalent. Tries hard and could do well with the right players next to him but never a true game winner by himself.

I'd take Watson over May at the moment if only for his natural instinct to run hard at the line if nothing else is on.

I like Watson but he's hardly essential and you shouldn't be getting into bidding wars with multiple clubs for players in the nice to have basket.

I agree. I certainly wouldnt be getting in a bidding war given we have may and kenny.

But no doubt watson is probably the best all round modern 14 in the game..

If tmay wasnt so slow it would be him but his lack of speed and lateral mobility are his major downfall. Speed and agility of the bench in the modern game is soo valuable against tiring forwards.
