Menzies > ESL

English Super League club Bradford is reportedly poised to sign Manly great Steve Menzies.

Menzies, 34, is set to leave the Sea Eagles after 14 seasons and is believed to be considering finishing his career in England.

"The Bulls have more or less convinced him to have a farewell year in Super League," the Daily Express newspaper reported.

"Bulls' fans may question why the club is chasing a player who will be 35 in December, but second-row Menzies is still one of the fittest and most dedicated professionals in Australia, and can also fill in at centre or stand-off."

Menzies has also been linked with Salford and Widnes and his manager Wayne Beavis told AAP another club had made a late expression of interest.

Yep, I've heard from a family member actually. And they have been at him because they all support Wests too.

He would fill Hodgsons boots, maybe with not the same impact but certainly aint the worst. Can kick a goal too.

Panthers are trying to offload Rhys Wesser for next season.

Any club willing to pay ~70% of his contract can get him.

Mick Ryse Wesser is on $320k a year .Penrith did try to shop him around with the deal they would pay half of the final year of his contract.Brisbane was the original club interested but due to stagg staying that fell through.at this point no other club has expressed interest and now its out in the open .Penrith will hide and deny it

We should try offloading him to the Souths or Tigers.

Both clubs are in need of a fullback for next season... and even if we had to pay 40% of his contract, that would still free up ~$180k to $200k a season.

Fullback is the last position we need to fill, we have 3 or 4 first grade standard fullbacks ready for next year (Moltzen, Lazarus, Gallant come to mind). Halfback, now thats something we need or a front rower hahaha

I'm a Souths man and would take him if the price was right. Don't want Souths to pay overs again for an aged player.

Is that name "the snake'brett stewart" meant to be offensive? Can think of al ot more deserving Manly players for that Tag. Stewart is one I admire.

The Snake is in reference to the fact that Stewart has diabetes and has the trainer carry a bag of snakes in his pocket during games in case he needs them.
