I watched Lee Mossop playing for Wigan v Widnes on FOX this morning (Had gout and couldn't sleep). He was playing prop, not lock. Didn't impress me though....

That's because he's not a lock, he lacks that pace to be a lock he does offload rather than pass which works against him..

if blair is on the reported 500K - then i wouldn't want to pay more than 200K of that .... he is a risk - a potential high reward tho - but he's shown very little once leaving melbourne, talked up big about wanting more $s and opportunity and delivered little .... maybe he really was only good within the storm system

Watched two of his games now and I reckon you need to see a body of work cause i too thought he looked lazytown first. He doesn't follow the play looking for work but he does lock down the middle. I reckon that's exactly what Nolan and co picked him up for.

Also don't see any probs with his size. Clearly the biggest at Wigan, and the best years ahead of him.

have we signed a new hooker yet? keating's service was crap last night, his defence was good but dummy half play was shocking. He is holding back our team.

Actually I thought the service Keating gave last night was about his best all season.

I'm not saying it was slick, but is was "passable".

Of course, that's the exact reason he needs to go. Even at his absolute best, he's a very marginal first grader in attack. Too important a position to have someone so bad in that regard.

Bring on Paul Aiton! :sarcasm:

He tries to play devils advocate to the extreme in every f**king thread. That's why.

Actually, playing devils advocate isn't so bad - although it gets tiresome after a while. What gets me is someone who pretends (not assumes, but pretends) that the 'stupid' majority are thinking along a particular line and then argues against that, using the excuse that he's trying to balance the equation by presenting the other side of things, or trying to educate people who have clearly got very simplistic views on things. It's childish, and demeaning and actually quite embarrassing really. Really spoils this forum I reckon. Used to spoil it for me so I stopped posting for a while. I found I enjoyed the football a whole lot more. Might do it again soon.

Certainly possible, but I think we would need more than one or two massive signings.

Assuming the reports are accurate, and assuming that all 12 players do move on, then we will be down 8 players (12 players leave, 4 new players arrive, for a net loss of 8 players). Some of our Wenty and even NYC players might step up to fill some spots, but what we really need are some quality depth signings to fill in the missing 8 spots.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind a big signing.

I wonder if we'd be any chance whatsoever of signing Israel Folau?
Can you imagine:
1. Hayne
2. Loko
3. Folau
4. Hoppoate
5. Morgan
6. Norman
7. Sandow

Or any number of variations on that.

So is this thre thread we're talking about the lucky 12?

Fairfax is including Reni Maitua, Matt Keating, Ben Smith, Willie Tonga, Ben Roberts, Cheyse Blair, Daniel Harrison, Nathan Smith, Pat O?Hanlon and Matthew Eisenhuth, which just leaves two more names.... http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...ls-players-shown-the-exit-20130605-2nppz.html. Luke Kelly has been named by News Limited, which means one more name.... http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...-for-next-season/story-fni3ga7r-1226657845869.

So long as we're buying in a hooker to replace Keating and N Smith (as a back-up/partner to Pritchard), then I have no problem in any of the above guys not being part of the full time squad for next year. Harrison hasn't really rated a chance of first grade it seems, and must've been a desperation signing by Kearney. Maitua, Tonga, Roberts and B Smith are past their peak and wouldn't hold a spot in next year's 17, and will save us a heap of money we can put to use elsewhere. Kelly, Blair and O'Hanlon have had their chance to impress in firsts, and Eisenhuth musn't have impressed behind the scenes enough to warrant retaining a spot I guess.

Harsh but fair of Ricky. I wonder who the remaining player might be?

#cleanout #twoyearplan etc

I don't know why, but it didn't even occur to me - if Stuart is wanting to get rid of Keating and Smith and Kelly, then 'he'll have to buy another hooker. And that can only be a good thing. Parramatta has lacked a really good tactical hooker for a long, long time. Who would be available for next year?

I know u don't think his form has been the best but I reckon we should at least wait until we have a pack that can compete against most sides . There aren't that many top quality half backs out there and only really 2-3 that are at the top of their game (cooper, thurston ) . The rest have faults . Half backs aren't like forwards which are easily replaced. We just need to get an nrl quality forward pack and focus on what sandow does good (good kicking game and running game) not what he does back. With Norman and Hayne there should be enough quality to win a few games gee b smith won minor premiership with a lot worse

That's my feeling too, although I am a bit over him really.

Robson was tried at hooker in 2010 and it didn't work. Why would it work this time around? Might as well get Kingston back then. At least he's a specialist hooker.

I would tend to think the same; but Robson is definitely a better player now, and he's tough, always gives 100%,is a better defender than Keating, and has a great attitude. We could do worse, we could do better.

That's my feeling too, although I am a bit over him really.

He is not the sharpest tool in the shed. It seems he plays better when behind a strong pack of forwards like he had at the Rabbits, then his cocky ego clicks in playing the add-lib style he's well known for. Sandow appears to be too "simple" to follow a strict game plan for 80 minutes and be able excel within it. He's a very instinctive player who likes to do his own thing but he needs confidence which comes with a solid pack of forwards to work off. Including a strict game plan provided by Ricky, guess this is why he hasn't been playing well for a while now. The less he has going on between the ears the better the 7 he is, just needs a strong pack of forwards which he'll have next year. Hopefully he'll develop a few simple combos with Hayne, Norman, Hock & Hopoate. We'll also need a strong set of defensive wingers and centers to help support and protect Sandow. The less points we leak next year the higher up the ladder we'll go, as we most definitely have a squad that can pile on the points.
