Not sure what 'it' is but if it's the salary cap....the MLB doesn't have one.
It's true that there are some big differences between the NRL and US sports. It's also true that developments over there and elsewhere are reasonable predictors of how stuff develops here (just later). Not rocket science..money pulls the strings.

Within this environment, you will not be surprised to realize that Major League Baseball does not use a salary cap. It instead uses a luxury tax, which is a set amount of money a team must pay for exceeding a specific figure that is determined on an annual basis. It's no wonder that the lack of a salary cap coexists with more competitive imbalances in baseball than in the other pro sports (basketball, football, hockey) that all involve salary caps.
