Rumoured Signings

Will be Ponga and or Moses

I can't see my mob going after Mitch Moses. He can opt out of his contact at the end of the 2026 season, meaning he could only be signed for season 2027 at the earliest. By that time he'll be 32 years old, turning 33 towards the end of the 2027 season, so he would not be a long term option for anyone in all honesty.

Cronk wasn't a long term prospect.

And he's no Cooper cronk.

No Cronk wasn't a long term prospect. They'd tried it with Pearce at halfback through 2014-17 but it just wasn't working, so they went after Cronk. Helped net the club 2 premierships.

Moses is no winner at club level, so its not a great comparison.

Chad is a depth signing, never meant to be a starter. It's only due to Walker doing his ACL that he will be. That's reflected in he's on a 1 year deal.

By the time we reach the 2027 season, Sam Walker will only be turning 25 years old. That's who the club are setting as their halfback.

Also by that time, I suspect James Tedesco will be retired, so a quality fullback is a higher priority I suspect at the moment. If Sandon Smith does work out at five eight, I suspect someone like Toby Rodwell who's doing very well in the lower grades, might be the next cab off the rank.

We should get half of their competition points because we’ve supplied half their squad.
Chill, little bro

Glad to have Leo on board. He'll pair nicely with Tapine and ensure our highly touted young spine players can come into a team and not be expected to perform miracles behind badly beaten packs.

The success of the Raiders future will not hinge on Leo Thompson but the best thing we can do to help Strange, Sanders and Stewart develop into players we can build a winner around is provide them with an extremely high floor and ceiling forward pack to play behind.

Stuart's got a lot of faults as a coach, but the one area no one could fault him on is middle forward development, so i expect Leo to take his game to another level too, as that's what almost every middle forward who comes to Stuart does. In a league where it's a salary cap of 12.1m across 30 players (400k average), 750k per year average across the deal (which is the figures ive seen reported today) is perfectly fine for an international player imo

Imagine being a beach town and getting out recruited by Canberra.
You'd never hear from me again if i were on that end of this feeder club arrangement. Id be too embarrassed

Just keep Connor Votano warm for us until we figure out if Chevy Stewart is the man. Thanks in advanced.

Getting out recruited is adorable.

You’ve overpaid the 2 we wanted to keep and bought a heap we weren’t interested in keeping.
Admittedly Tapine worked in the long run but paying massive overs for Thompson isn’t gonna do much for your premiership hopes. You can’t win a comp with only middle forwards.
