What are Doggies paying him? Anything above 750k is paying for potential and hoping for the best. Sometimes you have to take a chance on players though. No doubt Knights fans were wary of ending up with another Dan Saifiti on our books, who at his peak looked better than Thompson ever has but turned into a lazy plodder. Thompson probably has a lower ceiling with a higher floor, and doesn't strike me as lazy at least.

The problem for the Knights is who fills that hole in 2026. Even though I think it's the right move for us (not overpaying him), it's not a good look that players often want out claiming they can't reach their potential at the Knights. I wonder if that will ever come back on the coach.

825k apparently which is obviously overs.

Tbh as much as I dislike AOB, I take comments from players when they move on that they think they can develop better at a different club with a grain of salt. None of them actually come out and say it was because there were offered more money.

I mean that very well could be his reasoning because it was well reported he wasn’t happy with the Knights decision to tap a lot of experienced forwards like DSaf on the shoulder, but tbh the Knights turned him from a reserve grader to an international that’s been offered top tier prop money, so I don’t think his development has been too held back at the Knights lol.

Bad day for the dogs

They paid the broncos a 500k transfer fee to get him which is now gone down the drain

With the halves options they have dolphins don’t really need him

Osullivan and milf must be on the reject list

Maybe they shouldn't have blown all their doe on Leo Thompson then eh? Can't develop players if they have no spot in the squad.
They have another 26 players they believe have the potential to become First grade players currently in the development programs. Losing two players who reportedly have attitude problems won't worry Gus too much i would guess.

What’s the incentive to develop players ?

Nah the Dogs love trotting out this line but have for the last few years have chucked their juniors away for seemingly similar imports. Losing Alamoti and Averillo for Xerri, JMK for Mahoney. They've just released Eli Clarke to Sharks who they've been banging on about for years to sign Eruna Tulua and now these props after making a prop who averages under 100ms in the game one of the top 5 paid props. The young fullback Papalli was said to be their long term one has gone Parra and the kid they got from brisbane now seems to be at Redcliffe.

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with this, if theres a better player then a junior of course you sign them, but the Dogs trump themselves as this development club and then ditch their kids without a second thought.

JMK was terrible until his final season at the Dogs.

Did the stand and look around jig at dummy half for a few seconds every play the ball.

Improved out of sight since though.

"Franchise player"
Not even close. He's a pretty good player, but certainly not the sort of bloke you'd want to build a club around.

Just the Orr boys chasing more moolah. If the two of them and Isaac Moses had their ankles shackled to concrete blocks and were chucked off The Gap, it would be the greatest improvement to Rugby League since they got rid of unlimited interchange.

If you shook their hand you'd definitely be counting your fingers afterwards
