I mean I'd argue that there should be sufficient boundaries in place to make it clear that even asking that is well across the line.

But tbh my sort of eyebrow raise is more that the Storm feel comfortable straight up texting that shit to the NRL CEO. That's mental
How do we know this isn't par for the course for all the club execs?

Maybe it isn't but it wouldn't shock me if it was.

Interesting that it’s presumed normal for one club to ask for sanctions against another club if they can’t get what they want. Bit surprised that anyone thinks this sort of request is considered anything less than interference and against the spirit of the whole game.

That sort of request seems to indicate that sending the question to someone running the game is not unusual or unsavoury.

I wonder what constitutes "explosive documents". I like to think they are actual pieces of paper that burst into flames violently.
It’s what the Melbourne Scum’s write their player contracts on

What the f**k?

So we have a club asking the NRL to pressure another club to agree to a deal that benefits the first club and not the second.

That's.... something
Appears that way if reporting is correct.

To have an owner or CEO of a club message the governing body for assistance to put pressure on another club to release a player that has signed a contract that he no longer wants to play rugby league, surely that calls into question if they are 'fit and proper' to holds such roles in the game.

Not really , it shows he’s being a good exec for his company. Abdo/PVL on the other hand

I've gotta assume some of the blokes in here were the product of unwed single mothers.

Because back in the day I imagine 90% of women changed their surname upon marriage.

Obviously disrespecting their heritage.

I see what you're saying, and there's validity to your point.

However, I just cannot get my head around how it can be considered appropriate for a club executive to casually text and NRL executive something like that...

The CEO of the club asking is fine. They can ask whatever they want. The problem is if it's actually acted on, which PVL did coming out in the media.

To me it's about what club owners and CEO's ask for. If say cap relief for their own club, even if it's a bit dodgy, I get it that you push the boundaries to get an advantage. But to request the governing body to penalise another club because they won't release a player to you because that other club feels they have a binding contract, well that's another thing.

How was it acted on? PVL said a lot of fluff. The only factual statement he made was that the nrl were going to wait until the court made their decision before they weigh in.
