Rumoured Targets 3

It's not really about how much higher or lower we do or don't finish.
ah no, that is precisely what it's about. Indeed that's all it's about.

When we have scraped into the 8, it's been for no reason other than to be fodder for other finals teams because of the way we play our football.
that's more about the roster than the style of football. We quite literally have possibly the worst spine comp + a pack that has zero fear factor.

It's a miracle we made the finals IMO. The team over achieved and was lucky a few cards fell their way

Across the board our players went backwards
the start of this season not withstanding

Lucas - one of the most promising young backrowers in the game
Leo - Kiwi International
Safs - SOO reps ( lucky to be selected but none-the-less )
Crossland - Kiwi International
Best - SOO rep + Aust squad selection
Dom Young - England International + comp highest try scorer + club record holder
Sharpe - one of the most promising young players in the game
Ponga - Dally M

The above took place under AOB, and mostly with a reserve grade spine to steer the team

* look where Dom Young is this week under the "super coach"

The reason for that turnaround isn't applicable in our current situation unfortunately.

Yeah. Just pointing out that even the last time we were good, we still got a spoon the year before that. I’d say the wheels well and truely started falling off after 2002 but Joey kept us in some seasons when he wasn’t injured.

Also it’s possible for both the playing roster and coaching to be responsible.

There seems to be 2 lines of argument, that either everything is all AOB’s fault, or the rosters terrible and he’s done the best he can.

To me it’s a combination of both. The roster is absolute aids, worst spine and middle forwards in the comp easily, but AOB also can’t coach a style that works best for them (consistently at least).

Doesn't look like much is changing for 2026, AOB will still be here and the forwards will be worse.

Hope Brown like taking hit-ups.
POS has already shown that he’s looking to sign forwards. We missed out on that young guy from the Dragons but I imagine we’ll be looking at other options. I’d be surprised if we don’t add a couple of guys to the forward pack for next year.
