Rumoured Targets 3

We took a guy that was on the market that we could accommodate to solve a problem. Look you may be right, I just don't really see evidence for it at this stage.
It's just me hoping I'm right, but like I said before if we can see it and surely we cant all be wrong then certainly AOB must see it.....I'd be floored if Mann is our 5/8 next year

Isnt the mantra "dont weaken 1 position to strengthen another" ....I've heard AOB use the exact term.

If Mann was our 5/8 to partner Pearce he's still be there and we would have chased professional career dummy half
Isn't weakening a position when we don't have anyone to fill it. Randall is a long way off at 9 imo. We get experience with Green and retain someone who has been one of our best performing players.
Word was O'Brien sees Mann at 8 under the current circumstances. We tend to and can rotate dummy half.
I'd rather see a stronger 9 who can control the game than to change 6 but now we have Green.

I’m starting to think Mann could be a good center for us, opposite side of Best.

This year he’s backing himself more whilst defending strongly and likes to try and draw his opponent in and make a move. Short kicking game strong too.

would like to see it as I think Brailey and Watson are our hookers next year with Randall as backup. If Mann kills it at 9 this year we have a real dilemma.

I was thinking this but was scared of getting shot down...

I think it's more just - Green was available and we can make it work. There's weakening one position to strengthen another, and then there's losing 3 hookers and needing an answer now. I'm not sure we can go to the market and get a deal done that quickly for another specialist hooker. Green was on the outer and available - probably the highest quality option we could hope for available right now, and we have Mann who is versatile enough to shift. At least that's my read on it, I don't have any better information than yourself.

What I do like about this signing is that it signals really clearly to fans and to the playing group that we have not given up on this year yet. That there are no excuses not to turn up this week and put in a good performance. That is the best thing I take from it by far. Look how rejuvenated the vibe of the forum is on the back of this news. The past 2 weeks (or longer really, but especially the past 2 weeks) have been really draining for the fans - I don't doubt the players feel that too. Getting Green in is a real panacea in this moment of the season.

It may well be the case that AOB doesn't want Mann as our long term 5/8th, as much as I've loved his work this year I do think something feels wrong about it too when I watch him. There's just too many murdered opportunities and clunky ball movements. If Pearce was the 2018 Pearce and could dominate that #7 jersey and all the roles assigned to him - then Mann would probably be enough at 6. Pearce not being that guy at the moment (and I'm guessing won't be again) exposes both Pearce's shortcomings as well as Mann's. That doesn't make either of them useless, it makes them a bad fit for each other. They both need a more dominant half next to them.

I think AOB knows what we all know, that Pearce needs a good half like a Maloney, Carney, Keary outside him to perform and Mann was always a stopgap measure.

100%. But hats of to Kurt. He has been super. Alex McKinnon has stated he has been our best player and he is right.

Yes we are short on hookers but the bigger need for us is a general. I don't see that as a shortcoming on Kurt's behalf at all.

Obi has certainly pulled right rein here.

" I'm here to bring experience and calmness to the team " .......interesting word. Same word JWH used when asked " what does Cronk bring to the Roosters "?

" calmness" is the control we need. Pearce, mostly, and the rest gave gone into panic mode at times. We need someone to settle things down and give direction instead of playing the game at a desperate pace.

Perhaps Mann is the 14 we need going forward instead of Watson. I've been simply amazed at the effort factor Mann has brought to the team. Him and Barny have been the best two players this season for mine purely based on the effort and passion they play with.

10000000% . The investment in Watson is crazy town stuff. Kids never on the field. Surely we've learned our lesson of paying silly money for no return?

I'd go Mann purely based on Watson being injury ridden to the point of why have him ?

We could use Herman, Glasby, Watson's money to sign two impact forwards.

Green & coaching staff to begin grooming Hoy to play 5/8 beginning now.

*corrected to leave out Moga

I doubt Moga will be there. He'd be unlikely to be re-signed.
Watson might be signed again and could come in around the ruck like he trained for earlier on this season.
Jones is being groomed to get a spot.
Whichever way it goes we know we'll be disrupted with injuries. Having the likes of Mann, Watson, Hoy, Crossland and Randall vying for spots is a good issue if we can retain them.

If Moga and Fitzgibbon are part of our best starting line-up, we're a long way from being contenders imo.

I rate him more highly than Sion
I dont see the effort, I also rate Sione above him due to versatility on the bench, I'd replace him with a mobile skilled backrower with some mongrel, he's a back-up NRL player that I cant think of any NRL team he'd be a part of

I definitely agree re: Moga. I don't have a solution for fitzgibbon. I rate him more highly than Sione.

You could go;

8. Klemmer
9. Brailey
10. Daifiti
11. Barnett
12. Frizell
13. Jaifiti

With Jsaf at lock the only agile mobile player in the pack would be Frizell , little guys like Murray or Radley will rip it up.
