So who would you have at 6 next season, at this time it’s Mann or no one, we need to sign someone
yep sign someone. Make room in the cap if we have to.

Alternatively run with a genuine half and that is Crossland or train a fullback to be a half and that is Hoy.

Both look like they have a boot on them and could develop a passing game. Unfortunately both wont be capable of steering the ship, which is the type of playmaker we need.

Have to find a spot for Hoy too apparently. Gun young local!!

Why not a team made up of only utility players!
yep, Joey is pushing hard for Hoy to 5/8 at every opportunity.

He's a fullback and a Rookie, it will take him 2 full seasons at least to be where we need him to be, and that's if he has what it takes.

I still can’t understand why Crossland is supposedly not a 5/8 option all of a sudden? He was a half all through his career so far right? But for some reason based on the way he’s been used this year he’s now considered a hooker? If we don’t have much money to spend then AOB needs to get Crossland training at 5/8 all pre season and give him a serious crack at it. I don’t get why Hoy is viewed as a 5/8 either when he’s spent all this time at FB until now and I haven’t seen anything from him yet that screams 5/8 either.

It just seems like we’re trying to manufacture players into different positions that they shouldn’t be in rather than using guys who’ve been playing that position their whole career so far.

That would be the plan and the reason the club is willing to go 12 more months. Just hope the $$$ are reduced.

Surely.
You'd hope so. Throwing good money over bad if not.

I hope the club shows the ruthlessness it takes to be successful and not just give these blokes coin when it's not deserved.

The Roosters and Storm pull the trigger without hesitation.

I'd say if Pearce was at the Roosters or Storm he'd be out of the starting side given his form. Mind you they'd have a ready made replacement as well.

Could Crossland be the new 7 when Pearce is gone, have we got him on hold while Pearce does his thing and Crossland get experience in the spine. Still means we need a 6.

Maybe, not sure but maybe, AOB sees things a little differently to the coaches Crossland and Hoy have had before. AOB might see different strengths and weaknesses and sees them playing better in different positions to what they are used to. Not sure though.

Crossland didnt have a full pre season. By the time he returned to training Mann had the 5/8 position.

Hooker/utility is a position where we need someone to fill in. Obviously he thinks highly enough of Crossland to slot him in there rather than Hoy.

AOB has mentioned Crossland numerous times when talking about 5/8, I just think hooker is where he's needed at the moment.

Hey all,
First time visitor. Just curious how you see Adam O’Brien dealing with our roster over the next 12 months and if you see Junior getting another contract? Not sure why Crossland hasn’t been given the 6 either. Keeps getting overlooked there.

We'll see after 12 months if he can make some tough decisions. I still reckon Crossland has been overlooked because we need him at 14 to fill in at hooker.

Put another decent half with Pearce and ok but if not let him go, he looks done. Spend the money elsewhere

I've said before that resigning Watson at this point is f**king stupid. We clearly need a specialist 5/8 not another utility.

Yes we've sign Frizell, but we've also lost Guerra, Herman and Glasby. We only have room for one of Mann or Watson, and Mann is better value for money.

If any of the cash from Guerra, Herman, Glasby that wasn't used on Frizell goes anywhere (including extending Watson) other than on a 5/8, our recruitment isn't doing their job

So have we actually re-signed Watson yet or is it still in discussion?
On Toohey's podcast with Watson ( post injury ) he mentioned he was not getting the deal is was looking for but was willing to accept and they were just nutting out the finer details.

I think it's less money and only for 1 year.

Watson also mentioned he's going to see some expert who will be teaching him how to move properly. He puts his injuries down to the way he runs and moves when he plays the game.
