Pezet has a good long kicking game but he’s not one of these guys who boots it into orbit like Burton.

His biggest strength is his short kicking game, where he has the ball on a string and can pull off a variety of trick shots.
If he can take the pressure and focus off of KP. Which is all we are asking for.

This is severely devalued now that teams are playing more optimally with short drop outs. This team is begging for a big boot.

Schuster on a 12-month deal for $140k- like Hooper says, that’s going to potentially be buy of the season.
I think most clubs would have taken a punt on that lazy bastard for 140k no problems if that is his legitimate salary. It's minimum wage. But even then I'm not sure any coach but Bellamy could turn him around. I'm not convinced Wayne can.

Some players, in every sport, will never achieve what they should because they can't be where they need to be mentally. Schuster seems like one of them to me.

Pezet doesn't need towering bombs, we have enough guys capable of putting up high kicks as it is. What we need is a half who can kick long and preferably find grass more often than not, for the times where it's a slog getting out of our end.

I really hope our off season is spent tightening up our middle defence. We'd have to be close to the worst in the league for conceeding yardage and offloads in the middle

Being able to land a cross field kick on a dime or reliably put in grubbers etc to punish out of position defenders are still pretty bloody handy skills.

Yeah and it’s not necessarily about having a huge boot. Neither Melbourne half does but they are both really really good at finding grass, picking the right time for an early kick.

We need someone who can get us out of trouble when we are struggling to make metres out of our own half. Too often his year we would catch the ball on our 10m, make 30m and kick from our 40m and Hastings could only kick it 30m and they would be on the halfway after a tackle or two.

I guess Pezet is better than a broken Hastings on 800k a season. Want to see our halves take on the line a bit as well.

“Standing at 193cms, Taj is a real kick target in attack and will be a strong addition to our backline.”

:D:D:D He choose the right club to join.

No doubt Wayne’s aura isn’t what it used to be and the playing group at Souths don’t seem like the type who will bring Schuster into line.

Probably similar to Te Whare who seemed to have a huge future at the dolphins but Wayne couldn’t get him into shape.

I think there’s this misconception that Wayne is some sort of disciplinarian which just isn’t the case, Wayne just knew how to keep a lid on things and it helped that he had media connections who would help with the spin. As you said Te Whare never managed to keep his weight in check, last stint at Souths Latrell was given a lot of special treatment that the roosters just weren’t prepared to offer.
What will keep Schuster motivated is that he’s on a one year deal and can’t afford to fall back into his comfort zone

There's pretty big space between disciplinarian and people-manager. Wayne understands footballers, gets close to them personally, and is upfront and honest with them. He builds a lot of loyalty and then uses that as currency to tune his squad into a group that is willing to put in for him.

Listen to any player that has played for him outside of our club and they'll all tell a very similar story. He's like a surrogate father figure for his teams. They respect him because he's got their back and is genuinely looking to improve them as people first then as footballers.

He'll give each player the individual treatment he thinks they need to succeed. Sometimes that's whooping their arse, sometimes it's giving them a cuddle.

Sounds like a really talented kid that just hasn’t kicked on…at least not yet (although he does have a lot of talent ahead of him at Penrith).
Pretty sure he’s only about 19-20, he’s switched from 5-8th/centre to edge backrower so you’d imagine that would take abit of getting used to
