Just watched the highlights of new recruit 2nd rower Francis Manuleleua , same size and weight as Leniu ( 3cm taller than Spencer) similar body shape and only 20 yr old. He has the potential to develop into a good middle as he gets older

Sully seemed a big fan.

He was one of the schoolboy union prospects in NZ a few years back playing as a hard running inside centre for Kings College.

Apparently the Dragons offer for Hazelton is 450k. Surely that's a fair price and we should be matching it at least?

TBF though he’d be playing practically down the road from where he does now and wouldn’t have to move house or move away from family & friends, dunno if he’s got a partner or kids but he wouldn’t have to move them either. So whilst $450K might not sound like much for us to match it may have taken another $100K to get him up to Newcastle and POS might have felt that was too much.

I’m happy to back POS on this. He’s not going to get into bidding wars for players who he doesn’t think are worth it. He probably realises we’ll have to pay overs here and there for the right guys. The Dylan Brown one being an example. But a guy like Hazelton isn’t worth paying more than standard value for.

Bloke In A Bar pod had a great season preview today. The standout comment re us was from Kemp who implied Dom left cos he got sick of waiting for the offer. It was not simply a case of he wanted to leave outright. It was raised regarding the reasons behind Leo leaving.
They said Will Pryce should be given a crack at 6 and his stats in Cup were solid. They say the chat around his defence was a little exaggerated. Ultimately If we get the halves right and KP stays fit they say we are a potential top four roster. Huge call.

I listen to bloke in a bar every week, love the show, but their takes on Newcastle are pretty average. Makes me wonder if what they are saying about the other 16 clubs is accurate

they spent a good chunk of the preview complaining how we can’t pick and stick a halves pairing…….it’s obvious the coach doesn’t rate any of them and is just trying to shuffle the chairs around until poo + poo = serviceable.

I know I’m biased, but annoyed they spent most of the preview praising kp, praising our backline and 2nd row…then they all agree that we will finish bottom 4. We finished 8th last year and our only loss of note is Dsaf and we also replaced Tom Jenkins with Schiller

I can’t see us dropping that much in form unless heaven forbid kp goes down with another long term injury

Shouldn't forget that KP missed 9 games last year and was leading the Dally M before his injury as well. There's reasons for optimism.
