At this point I question whether Trent Robinson actually ever coaches players to improve? His attitude seems to be that if someone is underperforming then you drop them and try to move them out rather than actually putting the time in to coach them. Obviously I’m not in the four walls there so I don’t really know what goes on but it’s basically a luxury that he’s got where a player maybe isn’t performing how he would like so let’s bring another guy in to replace him.

Whereas you compare that to AOB who doesn’t have the squad depth or the tools at his disposal to just sign whoever he wants and has to actually develop his players.

Not saying AOB is a better coach or anything but jeez some coaches have it much easier than others don’t they.
Anyone with a brain knows Cronk coached them on field to the '18 and '19 titles.

Just highlights how good Roosters are as a club at rebuilding. What takes us 2-3 years will literally take them 2-3 weeks.

I wouldn’t consider moving everyone on to bring in a 38 year old as rebuilding. If he gets them a comp next year fair enough but they’ve alienated a lot of young players in the process (and possibly Tupou which I find the worst).

If we do get Dom back, I hope we try some attacking bombs down our right edge and actually try to attack the high ball. We have the two tallest players down that side...

I think the Roosters are a lot further away than they do clearly if they think DCE gets them a comp next year. But maybe they think they need to give Teddy his best shot at it before he hangs the boots up? Who knows.

Dom can't really catch. Maybe if we set him on tapping it back, lol.

They’ve always been like this. It’s not new to Robbo. They want players as the finished product and ready to go to win a comp, if you’re not ready they’ll cut you quickly.

On one hand I’d obviously trade positions for that ruthlessness to win a comp, but if you compare what Penrith or Storm have done winning with players they’ve developed themselves, it’s pretty difficult to respect.

Just reading the article now on Code.

it is suggesting the Roosters are tipping in $250,000 per season - meaning we not only get him cheap this year, but for 2026 and 2027 as well.

it’s about time we are on the right end of one of these deals!
If that’s true it’s an extraordinary amount of money to offload someone who in the previous 2 seasons has scored 45 tries and made 56 line breaks in 47 games

When I say rebuilding, I mean being ruthless at identifying and cutting dead wood and putting themselves in position to win a premiership ASAP.

May, Dom and Smith gone in a matter of days- not playing NSW Cup for a season on $800,000 like our guys. We can only dream of being able to offload players that quickly.

Either there's been an incident, or perhaps Dom is digging his heels in and is only offering to move on if he gets to come back to Newcastle I guess? Dom can sit in Cup and collect his 500k if he wants, he holds the cards here. If the Roosters really want to clear the decks for DCE then this kind of desperation isn't unheard of. While it is half his contract, it's also only 250k. We're paying a fair whack for DSaf to run around for the Dolphins at the moment too - and DSaf, while lazy, wasn't in the dire form that Dom has been in for the Roosters - and was in a more key position that's harder to fill as well.

I dunno, it's all a bit strange, but if it means we get Dom back for 200k a year for the next couple of years then yeah. I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Schiller hasn't set the world on fire. If this deal happens, then I think we'll see Dom in first grade very very quickly. It will improve our go-forward immensely. I really do believe if you drop him back in here, he'll find that extra gear again. You don't forget how to run hard and straight - his issues are between the ears.

The difference is they’re able to always sign marquee players to begin with so when they want to cut the “dead wood” they’re players other clubs actually want.

Now there are claims Dave Fifita is being shopped around. All it takes is one player being dropped to reserves and it is on!
He is priced out of anyone else wanting him. My gut feeling is that the Titans would have to pay way too much freight for anyone to take him on. Is he not on a $1m or close to it? Yeah, I'd be surprised if they find a suitor willing to pay more than half of that at the moment.

I can't access the article but the DT are reporting that Roosters are prepared to pay 250k of Dom's contract, which will leave us to pay the remaining 200k.
