We are in our current situation (a strong squad but about to face a deduction) because we got caught cheating. The Foran injury was bad luck, as was Radradra being dissatisfied with the long contract he signed. But you're always better off letting an outside back go than paying overs for him. The quality of our team in future years will show if we're paying too much for Jennings. Personally I trust Arthur.

If Jennings is on around 700k as of next year and Radradra is on around $250-280k do you consider that money well distributed.

I for one would prefer reversing that scenario. Semi is a unique entity that has transcended the norm and is worth centre/fullback compensation. He is fast approaching Hayne type of status and presence.

He should just like Hayne be able to attract a variety of TPA's and pay for himself through club marketing, exposure, merchandise and bums on seats.

Jennings for example, brings very little in any of those things.

Im OK if someone wants to leave mid contract and it is done the right way. Morrison did it, did Tahu too?

You just don't let elite talent walk because certain positions aren't worth as much as other positions in a typical sense. Every now and again there has to be concessions and Semi is one of those. We might not have the money to keep him and he might very well leave no matter what we do. But he is worth big money even if he is just a winger. His impact on the game is huge, more so than most other outside backs in the comp.

I think a Parra team with Semi for the next few years is going to be stronger than a team without.

Having players on unders is always good. Anyway Jennings wouldn't be on $700k. If all these players were on the huge amounts you nitwits claim, we would still be $2M over the cap.

Which is why he's not on the huge money you claim he is. Jennings would be on about $500k, which is certainly not unders, but what you pay for a premiership winning, current Origin outside back still in his prime with nearly 200 games experience.

Yeah Semi is worth about $500k. If he can get more than that elsewhere he should go.

But we also lucked out by getting him to extend for unders. If he turned out a dud would he be giving the money back? He has a contract, and he will (would?) be at his peak when it expires. He can chase the big money then. If another club wanted to overpay we should let them.

Melbourne let Folau and Inglis go rather than spine players and club leaders. It didn't hurt them.
