So shuffle the pack and backline even though we have an NRL experienced half in Cornish waiting for a crack???

Kelly is also an NRL experienced half. I'm sure there are plenty who would argue that he shouldn't be given a crack (assuming he was available).

Let's see.

There is the option of playing Nelson in the halves.
He played a couple of weeks there in reggies after they lost Kelly.

We wouldn't lose anything in defence though I am not sure what his passing game is like and whether he can kick. He is probably top 25 though so we don't lose a cap allowance.

Also, who gets the (c) with both Foran and Mannah out - I reckon Beau "80 minute" Scott should get it as I am worried about Norman's tendency to argue with the refs.

he was awfull and hey brought doolan up to partner cornish

Ah yes the Luke Kelly experience, sounds like a really crummy late 60's hippy rock band. And even the bass player would be a better option.

Cornish in the front line of defence against the Dogs? Lol, yeah right. And moving Edwards from the bench and including a more experienced Gower in the bench spot is not really a "shuffle".

Despite 15 games of first grade there's a reason Cornish is not in anyone's first choice 17.... As I said give him a chance in the next game, where they can at least train all week (fortnight) together in that new configuration first.

Agree, Beau Scott should be a shoe in for the captaincy role tonight.

I say give the captaincy to Norman. Who knows if Foran will ever come back. I mean, if he ended up in hospital after an "episode" as the Herald have reported it this morning, that sounds serious and maybe something that will take more than just 3 weeks to get over...

Show Corey that we consider him a big part of the future of the club, might help sway him to re-sign with us!! :)

I'm no fan of Kelly, but I understand why he's in the squad, and that when he gets picked it's because there's no-one better available.

As for tonight, I reckon Kenny Edwards will start at right half with Gower coming onto the bench.

And yes there will be massive pressure on Norman's kicking game, and his place in the defensive line.

Coreys manager will then say, he's a current captain we want another $100k

Hopefully he has a series of absolute shockers while Foran is out, other clubs withdraw their offers and we re-sign him for $500k a year.

Then Foran comes back and Norman plays awesome every week.

Wouldn't have a problem with Edwards or even Taka if our dummy halves were more creative and had kicking games. They don't and Cornish does something we will need to turn the big dogs pack around.

I would prefer Cornish. But if we aren't going to bring in players outside the top 25, I reckon Mr T to 5/8 ( has NRL experience there) and bring in Morgan would be a better option. I think KE starting takes a bit away from our game, it's great him coming on later in the game with his "energy" / "x-factor"

do you think the balance of the side would be too disrupted if we brought Retts in moved Guth 1 in and shifted Taks to 6??

Not particularly. Takairangi has the ball skills to play 5/8 and he won't be defending in a foreign position. We lose a little defensively. Norman does the bulk of the kicking anyway.
