Half a million for a bit part, undefined role player from an already successful system being thrown in to likely have to be the guiding hand for long periods of season? I’ve never seen anything in Wishart’s game to suggest he’d be capable of what we even need.
Cole again is in an established successful team. Outside of that, I doubt he’s noticeably better than Volkman.
If we’re going to chase halves, it’ll be Galvin, Metcalf and (I don’t know where his contract is at) Katoa. Outside of them, there’s no point throwing money at anyone, just offer them the expanded opportunity to be a first choice half.

I reckon Wishart is worth $500k. It's not big money for a starting NRL spine player, which he would be for us.

How do you know Lane is part of the middle rotation?

Because I watched him play last year. But he also played in the middle before he came to Parra. If he finds himself back on the edge this year, there's no reason he can't play in the middle in future. Having him on the books shouldn't prevent us signing another edge forward. We freed up however much cash when we shitcanned RCG.

My understanding is that our club approached Drown and his manager wanting POs removed and also wanting it settled prior to round 1. When your negotiating point is current money, no increase and just remove the POs, I reckon it sent a pretty strong message that we were OK if he moved on IMHO.

So we were just offering to take away stuff we agreed to give him in exchange for the unders he was already on? Of all the rumoured shit that didn't happen, that bullshit rumour didn't happen the most.
