Good strategy
Mate i never look past 9th.
The CEO & HOF need to be in the gun.As much as I am on board for the revolution and the change in playing roster and tactics, questions need to be seriously asked about what we did all off-season.
We had 5 months to prepare and we what we have dished out for 320 minutes is the following:
1) We look unfit - really? Immediately after a 5 month off and pre-season?
2) We look slow - both leg speed and in formation , everything is in slow motion;
3) We look disinterested;
4) We are completely lacking in cohesion.
I understand we have new players and new systems, but after a full off season you would think that the players that were there could at least exhibit some cohesion or some semblance of systems and might at least show they want to have a dig.
The fact that we can't even muster the basic requirements of a professional football team is very troubling and poses some serious questions for the coaching staff.
I think the fans deserve an honest explanation as to what is going on - if there are players pulling a go-slow or phoning it in (Lane, Brown, Lussick , Penisini), either drop them or call them out publicly - because this is beyond a joke.
Matterson, Cartwright, Kelma and Wiremu are clearly done and that might be fine, but it doesn't explain how the rest of the squad have no ability to even play to the standard pf a NSW cup team in the basic elements of the game.
It is getting to the point where you can't even watch it, let alone attend games - there is zero enjoyment in tripe like yesterday for actually Parramatta fans - even the TCT boys couldn't handle it. The only alleged Para fan I could see enjoying this would be Pou - and to be fair, he doesn't actually watch the game and his enjoyment would be derived from the endless statistical fodder and arguments provided by such a disaster.
This is just dire.
I think that rookie Ryles underestimated the difference that Gutho vs 1 game rookie made to the team. Also what a leader Reg was. Not saying that these changes were not right in the long term, but the wise-in-hindsight take is that we are lost right now without THEIR experience. The CEO & HOF need to be in the gun.
Sarantinos & the chairman both did a press conference last year when they sacked Arthur to explain there decision and there i quote some of the comments made by the CEO.
I rewatched it this morning to get these quotes right from Sarantinos.
"We have a Strong Roster"
"A roster that would appeal to any coach"
A roster with great appeal to any potential coach Sarantinos said 3 times.
Ryles has come in and has moved RCG & Gutho on.
Doesn't want Matto/Carty.
Wasn't keen on Drown.
Penisini has turned into Waqa Blake.
Clearly Ryles didn't rate the roster the CEO/Chairman were spruking when selling the job.
4 games in we have decided to embark on a torturous rebuild from the mess left the predecessor.
With senior players with close ties to BA who look like they haven't responded well to being challenged by a new sheriff.
Well during Gutho's time here the 12 games he missed since the 2017 QF v Melbourne to last year we lost all 12 games and by an average of 20 pts.I think that rookie Ryles underestimated the difference that Gutho vs 1 game rookie made to the team. Also what a leader Reg was. Not saying that these changes were not right in the long term, but the wise-in-hindsight take is that we are lost right now without THEIR experience.
I also think that it has been shown time and time again that this team can't cope without Mitch and as much as people say "but others do" we just f**king can't. We are a rabble without him.
As for all the rest of the politicking, that's the sailors having a bitch in the mess about the admirals.
You have to wonder about both decisions.I think that rookie Ryles underestimated the difference that Gutho vs 1 game rookie made to the team. Also what a leader Reg was. Keeping Gutho for 2025 and having Iongi on the wing is what most sides do with succession planning. Gutho was up for it and could have played 14 later in the year. Anyway, yesterdays newspaper. Rookie coach rookie decision methinksWell during Gutho's time here the 12 games he missed since the 2017 QF v Melbourne to last year we lost all 12 games and by an average of 20 pts.
If you want to tap on these 4 games to start 2025 that would be 16 games straight we have lost without Gutho and the average losing margin has blown out to 20.37 pts.
September 1, 2017 was the date we last won a FG game without Clint Gutherson out there.
Now i would preface this by saying letting Gutho was the right call long term and the short term it was going judged on the basis Moses was fit.
Once Moses went down the losing Gutho factor was always going to double down into a disaster. Our 2 x leading voices in the team taken out and replaced over night.
You cant replace a player like that over night.
But he clearly didnt want to be here he had a contract for 2025. And the safer bet was just getting a long term contract somewhere else.
I think letting go of Gutho and RCG has impacted all of the senior players. None of them are playing like they really want to play.Well during Gutho's time here the 12 games he missed since the 2017 QF v Melbourne to last year we lost all 12 games and by an average of 20 pts.

I think that the balance of rookies vs seasoned 50s vs seniors has tipped to mostly rookies and it is telling.I think letting go of Gutho and RCG has impacted all of the senior players. None of them are playing like they really want to play.
Like the good sort who wakes up with no make up, this is without foundation.I think RCG was a culture-based decision.... wouldn't buy in to the new one being built. Wasn't there rumours of him being a merkin of a human at Penrith?
I dont think he was was up for the 14 RoleKeeping Gutho go for 2025 and having Iongi on the wing is what most sides do with succession planning. Gutho was up for it and could have played 14 later in the year. Anyway, yesterdays newspaper.
I dont think he was was up for the 14 Role
Ryles met with him in mid-october and said look i want you here to play a versatile/hybrid/roaming role. Then chime in the spine if there any injuries.
We can work on a few things in the pre-season and see how it looks.
I get the feeling Ryles was going to sell Gutho for 2025 to be what Dylan Walker was brought in for.
To play in the middle off the bench in a roving capacity.
Gutho decided to ask permission to look elsewhere for a longer contract and eventually got one with the Dragons and the fact Flanno promised him the FB role at the Dragons.
Gutho asked for a release and we accepted it.
Why keep a player who doesn't want to be here.

He did look lost last year without Mitch. It's just the spotlight is on him more, magnified x 100.We also didn’t know Brown was going to turn into a pumpkin.
He’s worse. Did you see his chase on Saab for the first try yesterday? Last year he doesn’t give up so easily. He did look lost last year without Mitch. It's just the spotlight is on him more, magnified x 100.
No sympathy for him however. $14m means that you need to wear your big boy pants.
