I agree. But our weak middle forwards don't. They know they are getting hammered so resort to the shit offloads out of panic. Less weak merkins in the middle would improve this.

I think the forwards resort to that because we don't have a half who can run the show for them. If we had a specialist half like Adam Reynolds or Townsend or Widdop, the forwards wouldn't need to do that. Of course, if we had a better hooker, similar result. If we had both, we'd be a top four contender. Look, Gutherson is a marvellous player - and his stint at five-eight is going to make him an even better centre (maybe one of the best in the NRL) - but he is never going to be a half. Corey Norman isn't a half-back, either. He's a five-eight being forced to play half-back. We don't have any balance around the 6 and 7. All of this is okay - as long as Brad Arthur recognises it and recruits accordingly. I think he will.

This was on March 4. According to MJC's info, which is usually spot on, we have plenty more than $700k and since then we've upgraded Tep. I'd take MJC's info over your doubts.

Why? He might've heard outdated info. It is very odd that we would be so far under the cap when all but one of our top 17 were already contracted for next year. We might be waiting for someone to come onto the mid-season market but there's no guarantee it'll be the player we want or need. Or that he will represent any value.

Because MJC has a track record of providing credible info from within the club. Yours is purely an opinion. Based solely on that I believe his post to be more reliable than yours.

I think peats brings a decent amount of Energy to our line. He sets the tone for our defence (used to) and holds his own. I would throw decent amount of money at him in a heartbeat.

Maybe but more importantly we need a creative hooker, he would take a lot of pressure off our halves. Look at how Hodgson plays, is Raiders second half (after Sezer) and allows their 5/8th to play his natural running game which he is very good at.
Thought Vave and Brown (a few times) had an real impact against the big Raiders forwards which proves we need a few bigger and creative forwards to maintain dominance.

Pou, sounds like what a coach would say at the presser. We lost the game but we won the second half bullshit. Regardless we STILL lost the game. A coach is paid to win the game, not the first or second half of a game and still lose.

Hello everybody, do any of you think we need a creative hooker? I bloody well do, a creative hooker would help our halves and help Gutho adjust to his position. Has glimpses of greatness during games but not consistent yet. Give him time, look at some of the greats, Lockyer was average his first year at 5/8th, probably Cronk in his first year at half too. Maloney was thrown out by Parra as apparently didn't make an impression either, but would love him now. Many average players become good ones with time.

The issue isn't where we throw the offloads IMO. A good offload in your own half can be the difference between a 40m set and a 60m set. The issue is as much who throws them as anything else. We've got a few players who are natural offloaders (Brown, for eg) and a few who aren't. The problem comes when guys like Mannah try and throw an offload. Firstly, he's not a noted offloader so no other merkin is expecting it and secondly he's rubbish at it so it often goes to ground, which means when no one is expecting it the defence has a great chance to jump on it.....and of course throwing offloads when you're going backwards helps no one.
