Sack them all?

Look canberras first 3 tries.
1 bevan doesnt attack ball.unlucky bounce
2 semi comes in and no need, ropana goes down side line.
3 A bomb, semi at fault as doesnt contest then does a terrible clean up and lucky bounce.
4.norman kicks out on a full. Lack of ball. Tired.Legit try.
5. Ropana throws odd pass to self and somehow gets 6 again. Few tackles later cotric goes thru.
Sure Kaysa missed but manu and brown didnt come up as a line. Atleast Kaysa got hands on.

Yep. The above is a good summary. It's all Kaysa's fault, and BA should be sacked because kaysa's our only option, as the other two are injured.

Our hooker is in the bottom 3 or 4 in the NRL.

Do you think we can win a competition given this disadvantage?

Our hooker is still a rookie. He's been asked to play huge minutes as there's no other option. No it's not an ideal situation and we need to address it. Whether he comes off the bench, or starts and plays 50-60 minutes, but until we find another option, I'm sure he's doing everything that's asked of him.

Let's not forget the past few performances by semi, and bevan not attacking a kick in the in goal area. Laying the boot soley into kaysa is a little harsh, considering what's being asked of him. Like pou, I believe he's up to it, but it's the fatigue setting in, considering the minutes he's playing compounded by his recent ankle injury, that's hampering him.

That's essentially exactly what some of us are saying. Kaysa isn't good enough. We can't do anything about it right now, but we need to address it ASAP or we will not be successful

Again, you too are labouring under the misconception that saying hooker is our BIGGEST problem equates to saying that Kaysa Pritchard, individually, is our ONLY problem. No one has said anything of the sort. Our hooker options are woeful, none of them would displace hookers at any other club except one or two. You cannot succeed when such an important position is filled with such ordinary players. That doesn't mean in any way that Kaysa Pritchard is the reason we are losing. It means that the lack of quality in a crucial position is doing us a lot of harm.

French isn't in the team for his kick returns against a set defensive line. So yes, we do need more from him from a playmaking point of view.
He's trying ... if there was a stat for "dummys" he'd be miles ahead of the pack ... he throws a dozen in one movement

I'd love if they recorded weird stats like that.

"Hey, who leads the NRL in goose steps?"
"I don't know, let's have a look, and then tar and feather them and gaffer tape them naked to a relephone pole in a very public place because goose steps are f**king stupid...."

Some of you are saying he never will be good enough to even be part of our dummy half solution. However he was good enough for our top 17 in round one last year and I'm sure he will still be good enough as he continues to gain experience.

How did we go in that Round 1 game last year?

Newcastle have got plenty of blokes in their club that are good enough to be in their Top 17. Doesn't mean the team isn't going to lose more games than they will win.

Oh right, Kritchard's fault? I seem to remember Luke Kelly was the scapegoat for that one.

Last year's team was top four at the time we got busted cheating. This is the same team in which Kaysa Pritchard was top 17.

It's because it worked that one time and he scored an amazimg try.

I am starting to wonder if maybe French should go back to the wing the rest of this year. It worked a treat as a development strategy for guys like RTS and Holmes.
Put Gutho back to FB and sign Luke Kelly. Oh wait. Bad idea.

On another topic, MJC is right re space. I have 99% confidence.

That's a lot of cap space to start the season, especially with most of the top 17 already contracted for the following year. Do you think we are any chance of being able to spend it all?

Actually, no I don't. At least not all of it. Unless there is a marquee level player available before June 30 that BA snaps up.

Yeah he was in the team as a 20min bench player, which is all he ever will be IMO.

Add in the fact he's injury prone and I don't see him ever being an 80min nrl standard dummy half.

Well pretty sure it has to be spent, have we used it to front load all our re-signings???

I can cop an average year if we are able to have a red hot crack at the comp in the next 2 or 3 otherwise why bother??? It will be just another wasted year.

Pou if we are 800 k under cap of course we can spend. But rather then sign 2 or 3 guys would be better to add one at a big price otherwise we end up with guys in wenty on 250k as like mentioned most squads under contract.

Beau scot wont be here in 2018, watch BA phase him out.Same as gower and maybe Terepo.

Foran apparently killed it yesterday. What if he asked to re pay his faith in club?
