Yeah he was in the team as a 20min bench player, which is all he ever will be IMO.

Add in the fact he's injury prone and I don't see him ever being an 80min nrl standard dummy half.

Last year if I recall (or the year before), kaysa came off the bench and played more of a running forward type roll. So essentially this is his first crack at playing hooker or dummy half, Since his debut year. So, at the ripe age of 22, and with less then 30 games to his name and even less then a handful games he's started, you've already determined he isn't more than a 20 minute bench player. Lol.

In regard to being injury prone, imo that comment gets thrown around very loosely. Injuries have a lot more to do with bad luck, rather then a player being injury prone.

The kid will still continue to develop and improve as he gains experience and confidence.

Yeah maybe by the time he is 30 he could well develop into a 60min starter Smh

I think the Queensland water is effecting you mate.

Time to relocate back to Sydney.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(Not a good choice of words considering the rain/floods, I mean nothing by that)

That's a lot of cap space to start the season, especially with most of the top 17 already contracted for the following year. Do you think we are any chance of being able to spend it all?
Like I said, perhaps give a little bit more consideration to the possibility of being wrong and you might not come across as so arrogant.

You'd have to think if Roberts continues to develop as a hooker then the Tits may be open to releasing Peats before June 30 so they can frontload Roberts' extension and or extend Taylor to keep the Broncos away from him.

Well pretty sure it has to be spent, have we used it to front load all our re-signings???

I can cop an average year if we are able to have a red hot crack at the comp in the next 2 or 3 otherwise why bother??? It will be just another wasted year.

I think you have to spend 90% of your cap.

Pou if we are 800 k under cap of course we can spend. But rather then sign 2 or 3 guys would be better to add one at a big price otherwise we end up with guys in wenty on 250k as like mentioned most squads under contract.

Beau scot wont be here in 2018, watch BA phase him out.Same as gower and maybe Terepo.

Foran apparently killed it yesterday. What if he asked to re pay his faith in club?

I think people need to move on from Foran. The Club punted him, not the other way around. The moment he was costing $1.2 million a season then he was no longer any use to the Club. If he was on $600k he would still be at the Club.

The coach seems to want predominantly an 80 minute defender to play in the 9 and requires them to do little else. To be honest we should really be considering Lichaa if that's the case.

The fans might want a 9 to do more, but I doubt the coach does, so what's the point in signing a player to do what the coach doesn't want him to do.

(a) it doesn't all have to be spent. There is a minimum amount which is about $500k under the cap line.
(b) you never know what happens, tends to always be a club looking to offload a first grader mid year
(c) no need to use the money to front load anyone until later in the year, can always use it to poach a talented 20s player who emerges and is on $25k for his current club
(d) spending the money requires having someone to spend it on! See the above points for ways to keep options open as season progresses
(e) could try a superleague raid at any stage. Or pay the money as a transfer fee to bring someone over for next year.
(f) etc

Take your pick mate, the water, the people, the weather!!

I just don't see us winning a comp with Kaysa as our dummy half and that's the way the clubs thjnking should be.

All good points.

The Titans had money to spend last year and look what they come up with mid season...although it's not necessarily turning out for them this year with all three of their mid season buys now all injured.

I don't think transfer fees are included in the cap, well they haven't in the past.

Happy to be wrong about transfer fees, but you never know what Greenburg might try and sneak onto our cap!!!

Excellent point re: Titans. Maybe there were exceptional circumstances at play last year that lead to their success in that regard, but still.... if Cleary takes over the Panthers there may be a couple of players he wants to unload.

I'm guessing you meant the Tigers not Panthers.

Cheers OMC all fair points, I knew they closed the Maloney loophole but wasn't sure how much we could spend. It's always good to have some coin up our sleeves I still feel we missed a trick in the dummy half department.

My point is that the try was setup by two forwards running one out straight and hard with quick play the balls, which is always going to be much more effective than this half hearted runs with interchange passing and trying to offload.
Unfortunately with a lot of our offloading it is after the forwards has hit the defence and then they pop the ball. I would like a bit more support and the runner to get 2 defenders interested and then offload the ball hopefully for the support runner to run thru a hole. Our support play is poor at the moment, that is what needs to improve. Short passing between the forwards is also not used. Also quick play the balls to nippy players, which we do very rarely, always gets the defence back peddling. Its these little things that will make a huge difference to our attacking game.

If true about the cap only being 8.3m Greenberg and Grant should go ASAP. The clubs had led to believe it was going to be much higher. Ridiculous situations to be putting clubs in. This should of been sorted out well before this season started.

Agreed. Let's see how many elite players now start looking at options outside the nrl.

Yeah we may have cap space and yeah we should improve our top 17, but there is no use wasting it on some just because we can!! I am sure BA is waiting for the right player rather then wasting it on some one that isn't suitable for our squad.

Everyone reckons we should spend how 2017 cap space on a hooker or half but really who has been available in the last 6 months?
Josh, the right player might be 2 years away, should we wait that long? Doubt it. Need to go out now and buy someone who is better than the 3 we have. IDG should retire, concussion is not something you fool around with, Kitchard and King are glass and not up to fg quality and we need someone to fill the void. What about Cherrington at Sharks, haven't seen him play but reports are he is good. Maybe he will do until someone better comes along, or we produce a good dh.

The cap will be at least $9.5 to $10 million in 2018. The powerful clubs won't stand for anything less.
