One thing I think may be pertinent when it comes to hookers, Brad Arthur and our apparent disinterest in an 'attacking' hooker is just how starved the NRL is for well rounded hookers. You hear fans lamenting about the lack of quality halves in the game but that honestly applies every bit to the hooking role.

I don't know how many people know this but Michael Lichaa was one of the most highly (and I mean highly) regarded and decorated junior hookers to come through in a long, long time. He owned essentially every junior representative jersey there was to be had and he turned out to be trash. Ditto for Keiran Moseley from Penrith a few years back. Billed for massive things as a hooker, out of the NRL a couple of years later.

In retrospect I would have liked to have seen us take a flyer on Damien Cook but that ship has sailed. In the end what I am getting at is that while defence is obviously a huge part of what BA wants in a hooker I don't think we should be writing him off as not wanting a #9 that can contribute more in attack.

Maybe Lichaa plays the way he does because of Dessie. You don't just lose skills as you rise thru the ranks. Maybe a change of clubs will do wonders for him, maybe not but worth a punt. Cannot be worse than Watmough and Foran.

Also I personally would be less than impressed if we signed Moses unless we got him reasonably cheap. He and Brooks are, IMO, ridiculously overrated. And he's a rubbish defender, he'd have to work his arse off on fixing that.

Let someone else pay his stupid asking price.

You have to be impressed by a player that left Melbourne and maintained most of his form for the Dragons. Not many seem to be able to do that. I'd have him. In fact, I think he should be on top of the list.

Cheaper, maybe? The way to two respective teams are going, it'd be harder to entice Widdop away though, plus he gets a new halves partner next year, and that means his asking price would be on the up

Just my 2c. But I vote for having a really good crack at Widdop, who in turn solves the goal kicking thing as well as he seems to be hitting them nicely.

And I suggest throwing an option of hooker at both Peats and Lichaa and see which one sticks.
