I am not a fan of this rule interpretation they have brought in where it is obvious there is a benefit of doubt going to the defensive team in strip calls. This "no stripping action/motion" we are now hearing (Parra was on the wrong end of a bad one last week).
My problem with it is they happen when there is a defender's hand all over the ball trying to lock the ball up but not completing the tackle - all as part of a wrestling/gang tackle tactic.
Just about every problem in the reffing of the game comes from wrestling/gang tackle tactics.
I'd give the benefit of doubt in those ones depending on whether there is 2 or less in the tackle (in which case B of D to defending team) or if there is 3 or more in the tackle (B of D to attacking team).

How about just giving the ball back to the player and having him play the ball? Unless it's an obvious strip or drop.

Implying that your solid contacts mean you're always right? I don't doubt you have contacts, and I'm sure some of what they tell you is legit, but you're not understanding the difference between fact and assessment. Your contacts repeatedly telling you that Serdaris and MON are the problem is an assessment (an opinion that is informed, or otherwise, by facts and logic). I have no doubt there is a solid body of petty, resentful whingers in rugby league circles. People very quick to form an opinion and look for somebody to blame. The prevalence of this sort of person in rugby league is why I am certain you have these contacts. I have no doubt they would share their gossip with the likes of you.

Back to footy, I’d rather Hawkins be given the 6 next year if we don’t get a quality replacement between now and then. Hawkins can organise a side in attack and his kicking gives us a genuine option, which allows Moses to run the ball more. He’s no worse in defence than Joash as well.

I really feel like I needed that result last night. I get it’s only 2 point win but it really made me feel more positive about what is building. I like that Ryles said we are working on being a little bit better each week, including the staff at Parramatta.

He said we are very very early in our journey but our focus is on continually getting better.

If Moses is fit and firing like last night, I do believe we can probably fill the 6 from within and spend our big bucks on some elite players. It certainly sounds like we have an embarrassing amount of money to splash and Ryles seems non to fussed about rushing so maybe he is onto something.
