But given he’s predominantly a benchie, you are suggesting he’s trash?I wouldn't make a call on Walker until about April next year and I wouldn't be paying him 650 a season that's for certain.

Yeah we should’ve sacrificed 2023 so we could maybe play finals in 2025. Let’s just keep looking long term, like the Tigers. Such a young roster! Every. Single. Year.yeah that was after we shat the bed when Rata, Oggy and Ice signed elsewhere...
those 3 played in this years finals series, 2 of them are still involved.
Yeah they made the finals four straight years and then decided to make ‘shithouse calls’. You need to accept that the salary cap forces lean years to follow good years. More than half the teams miss the finals every year. Even with 16 teams, a club doing an average job will miss the finals half the time. The current management has made the finals four years out of seven. In the twenty years to 2018 we only made the finals nine times. We were below average for two decades and now we’re above average. It’s progress, unless you succumb to recency bias.you know on the back of what the club has achieved this year we can admit that they made some shithouse calls 3 years prior to that....it's ok Pou you can do it.

the deal was a 4 year deal at a reported amount of 650K, I dare say there wouldn't be too much negotiating on that contract..
You seemed to be suggesting there’s a skill distinction between starters and benches:no, and i never suggested Matto was trash either I said his contract terms were a shit decision.
Matt Keating was better than Kingston?you do realise that he spent most of that 22 year coming off the bench? so he wasn't even a starting forward when he got that deal.
Anyway, what are we going to do with the layer market? Are we waiting fortnight player to be tapped on the shoulder by their current/new coach?
I think we are.
His contract was inked after reed, ice and others had signed elsewhere from memory....
I think we’re hoping that but more realistically waiting for November when players become officially available for 2027Anyway, what are we going to do with the layer market? Are we waiting fortnight player to be tapped on the shoulder by their current/new coach?

You seemed to be suggesting there’s a skill distinction between starters and benches:
Matt Keating was better than Kingston?
Paul Stringer & Caylo better than Fui?
Not difficult to understand while there seem to be less discussions and contributors currently.![]()
So Dylan Walker wasn’t in our best 13?the game has changed significantly since i started watching it but from what i can tell you still pick the best available 13 to start the contest, that part of it isn't rocket science.

Yep, horses for courses. Hopgood and Smith offer nothing in attack. The reason they start is to cover Paulo in defence. You seemed to be suggesting there’s a skill distinction between starters and benches:

Three years later he still hasn’t found his 2022 form.that would be correct, I would of tried harder to keep ice but heck what would I know?
The player needs to agree to it. I’d say most players would prefer more cash up front and take their chances in the final year of the contract.Amazing a team that has made the finals almost every year in the NRL era can have POs.. why can't we all just throw POs at any scrub player....
It’s not like the scoreboard pauses after the starting middles go offSo Dylan Walker wasn’t in our best 13?
The biggest change in game around this has been limited interchange. The game isn’t necessarily about starting your best 13, more having them on the field for as long as possible
Walker is older than Matterson. But if he was playing this well at 27 (Matterson’s age when he signed his current deal) why wouldn’t you give him extra years or a PO if it means you can keep him. The alternative is paying him more up front. That’s fine if you have cap space but a team that just made the finals four consecutive years will have a lot less cap space than one that has missed the finals several years in a row.100% agree. Walker is playing good now at 13 but do you throw another 3 seasons at him just he played well in a team that was fighting for the spoon..
