I do recall a snippet when we were searching for our new coach and went something like
Hannah was happy to work with the existing coaching staff while Ryles was bringing in his own.
That was for me a clear indication Ryles was the man we needed

Yeah the Bellamy talk can't be too good...
You want to come into a clean slate as a new coach

2017 top 4 = 2018 squad good enough for top 4. Come last
How could the 2018 squad be good enough for top 4 when half of them never played NRL again after 2018?

MerkinNRL games in 2018NRL games after 2018
Mannah1810
French180
Hayne150
Vave120
King110
Matagi90
Hoffman810
Kritchard80
Edwards80
Scott70
Williams50

2025 = played s 3mill under cap for bulk of season. Missing top 3 player in game. Hadnt shaped squad with energy he wanted from players.
Apart from Moses, who missed even more games the previous year, not playing those other players was a decision. And it was a decision enabled by good recruiting from the club after a disastrous 2024.
BA also took over with some exciting talent coming.
You'd hope so after two straight wooden spoons. It's not like you're struggling to keep the side together.
Having peak Hayne and cap space.
He had Hayne for one year before he went to the NFL.
It isnt even in the same ball park to the shit show Ryles has.
That would explain why Arthur's got better results than Ryles, including in his first season in charge.
Even 2026 with Matterson and other chip ins for LANE etc we are probably 1 mill behind other sides
Says f**ken who? All you shit mathematicians who think we couldn't spend Drown's money until 2027 (but but he had a PO!!!) despite signing/extending Walker, Tuivaiti, Penisini, Addo-Carr, Kautoga, Da Silva, Smith and De Belin all after Drown signed with the Knights.

But as the months passed without a bite for Norman, the Eels told Moses he was also free to explore his options elsewhere such was the club's desire to split the pair.

"It's hard to explain how I felt when I was told," Moses said.

"I'm not going to lie it was upsetting to hear that straight away after the season.
Both players were poor in 2018 and we wanted to get Dylan Brown into the team. To their credit, Moses and Norman both went on to play Origin. Drown became New Zealand’s best player.

BA - We are not sure of his position yet.
Maybe watch the highlights. Mostly at 5/8.
What a balls up. I'll also back D.Brown to shine under a new coach. BA ruined his development. Stunted it.

Simply astounding we lost so many years to development let alone a coherent 1st grade premiership plan and it still stands testament to everyman jingoistic simplistic expressions that the Arthur's galoot was allowed free reign through all our junior ranks, basically decimating them for years to come.

I think our window is open in the next 3 years on account of the fact the NRL expansion market forces has a necessary thirst to entrench itself in the areas it has traditionally fed.

That’s not like you. You’ve always given our mate @hindy111 plenty of credit for his football knowledge. Don’t start backtracking now just because you’ve lost yet another football argument — which, let’s be honest, has been happening to you a lot lately.
Yeah that 2018 side was top 4 quality alright. Hayne at his peak lol

There was no room in our team for him at five-eighth. Plus his defence wasn’t good enough.

f**k I hope we get Pezet.
No doubt he is a good player and hopefully the heir to Moses but in the short term Im concerned that we will have 3 ball players including Walker and not enough ball runners. I think we would need an attacking centre to restore balance. Its has been noted that maybe Moses will assume more of a running role. He still has the pace.
Interesting times.

If we get Pezet I think Ryles will double down on using Moses as a support runner (as was mentioned in the interview posted a couple of pages ago) which will really unlock another dimension in our attack.
