Exactly. On that note, how many has Bellamy won without Smith? How many has Cleary won without Cleary? Teams win premierships, not coaches, and those teams don’t all need a superstar in the 7 jersey.
Cleary made a grand final with a team that wasn’t expected to. It’s a blemish on Bellamy’s record to not win any premierships without Cameron Smith. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Bellamy has also never won B2B premierships even when they cheated.

Cleary, Robbo and Bennett have.

Bellamy also is statisically the worst origin coach of all-time.

Bennett won origin in 2020 with a backline of Corey Allen, Philip Sami, Brenko Lee and Edrick Lee.

So anyone can play 7 as long as someone else can do the other roles of a 7 like kicking, organizing and playmaking 😂
Those responsibilities don’t all have to sit with the same player is the point. It’s why Galvin doesn’t need to be a ‘halfback’ to be successful in the 7.

And plenty of non-‘halfbacks’ can do all of those tasks. Some of the best playmakers are fullbacks, for example. Organising gets less important the simpler the team’s gameplan gets, and those are much simpler than they were back in the day. These days it’s mostly about getting the defence on the back foot and then giving the ball to your most dangerous playmakers. Not a lot of organising required for that. Game plans are drilled at training so teams know what’s required on game day.

Anyone can make a grand final with some luck in the preceding games. Look at us in 2022. Two finals wins from four, just like the 2011 Warriors.
We earned our place in the 2022 grand final. A lot of pundits expected us to be challenging for it. The 2011 warriors beat the minor premiers with Slater, Cronk and Smith at the peak of their powers. Why could we never get that lucky and cause upsets against teams with great players during finals?

Cleary and Hughes are both superstars of the game and in top 10 players in comp for majority of careers. Winning a premierships without a halfback capable of playing origin it is almost impossible.

and thats why is think we are a better chance than a lot of teams, Mitchell gives us something the vast majority of teams lack in this comp.

I think to win a comp you need at least:
2 genuine rep players in your spine
1 genuine rep outside back
2 genuine rep forwards (with at least one of them a middle forward)

So far we definitely have one of those in Moses and maybe JAC (though I reckon he still won’t play origin in 26).

but i imagine youd put the halfback at the top of that list?

A specialist halfback is unnecessary as long as someone in the team can kick, preferably two someones.
So much closer to Pou’s dream where we ditch Moses and go for middling across the park!

Who knows? You may even get cousin Jakey back so that parra can plod forever and you can revel in endless malicious trolling of parra fans…it will be your greatest victory!

If you want to win a comp you would.

there are some on here like the great Troll and his Pouciples who argue endlessly that premierships aren’t the end goal and therefore it’s a waste of resources to go after them…better to aim for the occasional win and revel in endless troll arguments like a pig in shit.

We were paying over $2 in Townsville and $3 the following week in the decider. We were massive underdogs. Sneaking into the top four doesn't change that. We had the seventh best points differential in the NRL that year.

The only 'pundits' who 'expected' us to make the grand final were Eels fans who thought our amazing recruitment staff had bought the best squad in the NRL. That was until scapegoat Arthur's was gone and it became convenient to start blaming the front office instead.
The 2011 warriors beat the minor premiers with Slater, Cronk and Smith at the peak of their powers. Why could we never get that lucky and cause upsets against teams with great players during finals?
Every team shits themselves in the finals sometimes, even the great ones. The fact it doesn't happen often means you do need luck to face them when they do.

It's happened twice in the past ten years. That's 20% of the time. Hardly impossible.

Incorrect.... In 2017 Cowboys were 3.15 outsiders and Eels 1.35 (when BA failed AGAIN and out in straight sets).Perhaps you got confused with that games odds?

2022 was 1.70 cowboys vs 2.20 us. Very close. I bet on it and my memories solid. But I've attached a screenshot.... If it was at Parra we would of started 1.50 favourites and id say slight favourites on neutral ground.
