Rumours and Stuff

I tried looking at individual games and there is no record of his individual game stats for us. Anyway, despite having a plodding worker in Peats (and later De Gois) we still carried Kritchard's dynamism off the bench. There's no reason we won't again if we can find a starting hooker for next year.

This site allows you to select which games you include in the averages (at bottom of page)

While you can't get average minutes (other than for the full season), you get it to show that in the 6 matches for us, Peats averaged 46 tackles per game, which would require being on the field for a fair while.

That's true. We know he can play long minutes. That's his strength. The important point for Kaysa Pritchard is that we still carried another hooker on the bench in every game Peats played last year. Brad Arthur rates him, but I don't think he'll be able to turn him into an 80 minute player like he seems to be attempting. Kritchard needs to come off the bench because at the moment his speed and power are being wasted.

In 16 games last year Kritchard averaged 4 runs for 36 metres and 17 tackles (less than 1.5 missed) all in less than 27 minutes. Better numbers than Segeyaro's limited sample this year, though the latter is stuck at dummy half where there are less opportunities to run.

It also indicates Peats made 278 tackles in the games he played for us at 0.62 tackles per minute. This equates to 448 minutes or 74.7 minutes per game. Is that reliable enough for you to consider you may not have all of the answers?

I'm not Pou. :)
The 0.62 tackles per minute is the season average. Those fields at the top of the page don't change (for me....it's like an INXS song) when you de-select games in the bottom half of the page. Only the averages at the bottom of the page change.

Also important to note that BA has maintained an 80 minute hooker this season, despite that player not being up to it, even when a backup with NRL experience in King could have been utilised interchangeably. Perhaps BA now sees a backup hooker as a wasted interchange player. I agree with him and he just needs to find one that is up to the job.

Haha. I was quoting your post but responding to Pou. Yeah I take your point re. the averaged tackles per minute across the entire season but I don't think that would have changed considerably with his move up north. That, combined with the NRL stats confirming his minutes played for us provides fairly robust evidence that he was a 70+ minute player.

I thought king was injured a bit this year???

It could also be that we dont have bench big guys that are capable of playing the big minutes???

No, I think that's right. His 2015 stats also suggest that he averaged 75 minutes per game for us (19 games, 925 tackles, 0.65 tackles per minute......so (925/0.65) / 19 = approx 75).

Yeah King has been injured but started the first few games I think.

In regards to the bench big guys, I don't think that's likely to change next year.

Moses may have to wait

Parramatta are expecting Mitchell Moses to be released after this Monday's game against the Tigers. And the likelihood is that will happen, which will coincide with the return of Luke Brooks from a hamstring injury for the Tigers.

However, a number of Tigers officials insist it's not a done deal and there's still a possibility Moses finishes the season with the club before linking with the Eels in 2018. Ultimately, Ivan Cleary will make the final decision – but Moses has handled himself with class since announcing he would be leaving the club. That's made it even harder for Cleary to let him go. If he had chucked his toys out of the cot, he would already be gone.
