Watene-Zelezniak to join Wests Tigers immediately

  • NRL ask Gallen to come out of rep retirement to play City-Country | Pearce 'scares' Walters ahead of Origin

The club recently announced the re-signings of Luke Brooks and David Nofoaluma, who will be joined by Warriors prop Ben Matulino and Bulldogs five-eighth Josh Reynolds next season.

Now Cleary has turned to his old club and brought over Malakai Watene-Zelezniak, Dallin's older brother, who has granted an early release from the Panthers, according to Fox Sports' James Hooper.

Watene-Zelezniak isn't the only player on the Tigers coach's rader as Cleary hopes to convince Te Maire Martin to come back to Leichhardt as a possible replacement for Mitch Moses.

The deal could be done by the June 30 deadline if Moses is granted an early release.

Te Maire Martin - who left the Tigers last year because he had Luke Brooks and Moses ahead of him in the pecking order - is set to rejoin the club.

And it could even happen before June 30 - if Moses is granted an early release to the Eels.

Kiwi born Martin moved to Australia as a teenager and played in the Tigers’ Holden Cup team in 2014 and 2015.
