But from what others have suggested hasnt the power to be dominant and could be a few years away from gettinf to that point

So we officially have at least 18 merkins in next year's squad.

Although, in the past we have tended not to announce very low profile signings (or announce them all together toward the end of the season), so we might have re-signed some of these backups already and just not announced it.

I think he may be another hugely over rated junior. Alvaro is superior to him in every way.

Alvaro is 3 years older to be fair, but Twai seems a similar sort of players to Mannah and Alvaro so really in the next year or two he was surplus to requirements.

Agree he wont be a Fafita. But ive seen guys like him have a big offseason and turn game around.
To offer 3yrs tigers have no doubts he is a future nrl player.

Why wouldn't they offer 3 years, he's cheap and they have space in their roster for him.

Yeah not much of a gamble IMO, at worst he turns into a handy bench player. Small risk in a signing like him.

They did the same with Josh Aloiai a couple of years ago and he has turned into a handy first grader.

I think Aloiai is a backup first grader at best. The Tigers edge forwards are extremely poor. Signing Chris McQueen will help a bit. It will also likely mean Aloiai sees less game time

What it means is that the Tigers offered him a top 25 spot (not necessarily top 17 next year, but probably) while we could only offer second tier for 2018. I'd say most if not all off-contract backups have had standing second tier offers since the pre-season. But they are holding out for offers like this one.

what if he doesn't prove capable of first grade? they then have a contract to move on.
