Anyone hear the ridiculous rumour about Cronk to the Waratahs?

As if he, a QLD legend and premiership winning player would go to that two big competition with a two bid team haha

Waratahs and ARU probably only have about 80-odd thousand dollars in the bank to offer him as well..... top sport that rugby union, it's in great shape in this country!!

It is amazing how quickly it died in the arse. Wallabies were probably only just behind cricketers in terms of support and dollars late 90s/early 00s

Which is why anyone wanting rapid NRL expansion is an idiot IMO....

The ARU combined the retirement of a lot of very gifted players with expansion, thus muddying the talent pool. Three strong teams became two strong teams, the Reds and two weak teams. Then players got jack of the declining interest and income potential and started heading off to France and the UK and Japan, the ARU allowed clubs to choose how they spent money allocated for junior clubs in their states (which of course went terribly) and we've now got 5 weak teams.....

Fitzsimons in the smh and his ilk have also been banging on ad nauseum about how the NRL shouldn't refer to itself as the "National" Rugby League if they don't have teams in all capitals and especially the western seaboard... Meanwhile the ARU are cutting one of their franchises (have they decided which one yet?) and were apparently considering the Brumbies as being the one that goes, all because why? Because it's sexy to have teams based in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth? Nevermind that the Brumbies have been the most consistent (ie good consistent, not shitty consistent)... The mere presence of a team in Perth does not indicate the code is healthy and national.... I too think the NRL are right to hold off expansion plans for the time being as they have indicated they will

Bulldogs deserve credit - Recruited well and will be favourites for 2018.
I doubt they lose anyone else bar perhaps hoppa and Liccha. With the morris boys off the following year i say they would backloaded Foran and Woods and want to give them a shot at title before let go.

I reckon theyd be smarter to offload Morris and keep the Hoppa who playing well.

It's down to the Rebels and the Force. But it's going to court, both sides have already indicated they will not accept the decision.

It would have been absolutely the death knell for the ARU if they cut the Brumbies. They are the only side that actually dominate their market, albeit only when they are winning because ACT sports fans are fairweather as f**k, and it's a small market.

Have they done that well? ... Foran can be very good but is probably still a bit clouded ... Woods is decent but i think a little overrated ..... be interesting to see who they lose - but i assume their creative accounting will have em keep graham and hoppa ... woods+foran = eastwood+lichaa in dogs dollars

Rugby Union is just boring shit ... even the toffs have woken up to that now.

League should be careful boring tactics dont take us down a similar path
But then people need something to watch ... soccer is a snooze-fest that survives on traditional passion - aussie rules is helter-skelter fairy taps these days ... what's left?

Hoppa will be offered 500k imo from other clubs. He will play fullback for Tigers i reckon or at worse centre. He is worth atleast 400k no matter what people think of him.

It's only become boring shit because we aren't producing any quality players....you should see what the local John I Dent sides think of the Brumbies down here. They don't see a cent of the ARU money, it all goes to the Brumbies. So all the good players clamour to sign with the Vikings, who run about 47 clubs and are loaded and therefore win the thing almost every year, and when they miss out they f**k off to Sydney (where they often get poached by NRL clubs) or go play lower divisions in France or England where they can earn a little cash and actually play in competitive sides. Easts have won four first grade games in the last three seasons but can't get a cent out of the Brumbies to improve their situation....

On the flipside, NZ always produce high quality rugby players and the All Blacks are as far from boring as you can possibly get.

News now that Foran will cause some losses for Dogs. James Graham on 950k this year. Newcastle want to offer him a 3 year deal so Graham will props go.
Also, Kasiano is being chased by Storm despite having a year to go.

Personally, I am still a big fan of Graham, but that is crazy money. Dogs will lose a few yet...

Absolutely. Can't believe anyone thinks they won't.
