Well, I guess that might not want to encourage any of the other blokes who have signed elsewhere for next year to try the same trick.

Paying a guy first grade money to do f**k all in reserve grade may be seen by some as a strange form of punishment. It arguably punishes the club more than it punishes the player.

But it also denies the Tigers. Keeping him in their first grade team also does this but also gives the Tigers the benefit of his services.

5. Sends a message to the fans and sponsors of the team that the inmates don't run the asylum.

Keeping him in the first grade team sends the same message.
