Interesting if we have gone to Elliot with the offer of a top 17 spot. Apparently we did the same for Evans and actually offered him a starting spot.

According to the Squad Succession thread, we have/had 20 edge and middle forwards in 2017 (before Hassan departed) and there are only 11 signed for 2018 so BA would be looking to add/extend at least 8 possibly 9 more.

Of the current forwards, I can only see Ma'u, Moeroa, Brown and Edwards as definite top 17 every week next year, barring injury/suspension of course. Adding Evans and Elliot would leave 2017 top 17 players Mannah, Alvaro, Matagi, Vave and Scott fighting it out for the last 2 or 3 spots each week.

Interesting times ahead.

In one of the interviews BA gave over the weekend, he mentioned how inexperienced/young our side really is compared to the top 4-6 sides.

Kane Evans interview post eels signing said there was an opportunity to start not that he was guaranteed one.

Hope we land Elliot, looks like a definite star of the near future

Defense has gone from
1. bad reads and rushing up with misses.
2.Good reads and less misses but not hitting hard.
3.Hitting hard and dominating in tackles and rarely missing.

Attack only this year has started to improve in last month.

All starters unless Beau retires early. Elliot is no better then any of them. We have a few prospects in Wenty as well. We could do with a few handy back up like Gowers class thou.

Of course!! But he has obviously taken a long term approach to building his squad rather then some short term signings to enhance his career.

Not without a better front row they won't. Might only take 1 or 2 key signings. But without them, we'll have some good victories against good sides (and more so than we achieve at the moment), but not enough to seriously challenge for the title.

And why did the NRL allow the broncos to sign Matt Lodge but they won't let us sign Meehan?

Lodge is definitely not contracted nor allowed to play nrl for the Broncos but the Broncs would have him in a heartbeat once he's got the all clear.
