The top sides might indeed have average wingers but how many of them have inexperienced wingers? The Roosters at least put their rookie outside backs at centre.

I reckon our side requirement (in my opinion) to have some leadership/experience in the middle out weighs the preference to have an experienced winger.

Additionally, I am sure a cheap experience winger would come available before season 2018 starts. Look at the Manly, they got a cheapie in Wright for example, they always pop up. Gordon is off contract too, among some others.

Yeah but we've got Hoffman. He's hardly inexperienced. And you can carry one inexperienced winger.

That said I'd love us to sign Koro and Semi. But hooker is more important

He's a limited minutes hooker, though I agree he is best against tiring defences.

But irregardless, with Kritchard in the 17 we aren't able to get full value out of an 80 minute tackling machine like Peats.

Peats playing 80 is still useful when you can move him to second row and bring on some impact with fresh legs at hooker. Means having that player come on doesn't cost you an interchange in your forward rotation.

Dropping Kritchard would be a waste of his ability, not to mention his salary. W just need to get Peats (or someone else) to share minutes with Kritchard, but at a price that suits us.

Kritchard is not on top 17 money so why would it be a waste of anything?

If you can get the NSW hooker, you get the NSW hooker. You don't fking go "oh that back up kid we've been using is decent for 25 minute stints so we need to make sure we get a hooker that works with him"....you go "Sorry Kaysa, but you've shown nothing to suggest you are an 80 minute NRL hooker so we signed the incumbent Origin lad."

I reckon he probably is. He is highly regarded by the coach and was in the top 17 in round one last year, shortly after he re-signed. De Gois was in reserve grade.

Because the incumbent Origin hooker could cost more than he's worth. Kritchard is a talented young player and we can get good value out of him. Bringing in a lesser value player (even if better) to push out a higher value player is poor cap management.

What if the incumbent Origin hooker has a shocker and NSW lose game 2?

Kritchard is a back up. That's all he will be. He's simply not good enough or tough enough for 80 minutes of NRL footy.

Peats is the NSW hooker. It really is very simple. Peats>>>Kritchard. And if it pushes Kaysa out of the club, so be it. Can't have a back up who is always injured and you can't be building a side based on who suits the back up player you've been forced to use in first grade. If you can get Peats to replace a bottom 4 hooker, you get Peats and you replace that bottom 4 hooker.

I don't think it will affect what clubs are offering, though it might make him reassess his own value and jump on one of the standing offers. Unlikely though. He will probably hold out until he gets injured next, then take the highest standing offer.
