They also need them successful so the Brisbane public don't switch off.
Remember when NSW won 3 origin series in a row and all of Queensland said origin is dead, no point playing it anymore etc etc, crowds dropped in Brisbane for Origin as well.
Broncos start playing like the Knights and watch the ratings in Brisbane dive and ch9 will blow up and want some TV rights money back.

Yep, QLD couldn't sell out game number 1 for whatever reason. It just so happens and lucky for the NRL that QLD won game 2. Had QLD lost the series then they'd struggle big time to fill the stadium. Again, very lucky for the NRL QLD won, I reckon they're pretty happy about that.

Melbourne and Ma ly have been the most inpressive teams in the last decade. Id argue Manly as no cheating cap and no big 3. They also built team a few times and staid succesfull and this year are playing great. Didnt take them long to rebuild from the Foran/Lyon era.

I don't think 'all of Queensland' said origin is dead. I think NSW just wished that was QLD's reaction.

Of all of the teams in the comp I reckon Brisbane and the Cowboys have some of the most diehard fans. They would be able to cope better with periods of poor results than virtually any other club.

You have to live up here to understand the passion that these toothless wonders have for their club. I've lived in Newcastle and even they don't rival it.

First player I will target is Timmy Mannah, then Sef Paulo and Ryan Morgan. Plus a quality back up depth half like Luke Kelly. I hear Benny Roberts is killing it over in the old dart he'd be a fantastic get as well.

Land some of these big names first and the rest is smooth sailing.

Not true, Burt had offers from other clubs in his final playing years, but took a paycut to stay. One of the best clubmen we have ever had. But of course, he was one of the favourites for people around here to scapegoat.
