When we signed him I'm sure it wasn't the plan for us to have him constantly in the top 17, even if he is in the leadership group. He isn't in our 5 best players so his salary would be below $200k.
The salary cap is $7M. Even if the 'bottom 20' of our top 25 were all on $200k that is only $4M. I agree our top five could be on $3M between them but that $4M for the remaining twenty ($200k each) doesn't seem right. For all the blokes in that bottom twenty who are closer to $100k you get more who are on over $200k. I think our 6th-10th highest paid players would all be on more than $250k. Then you have fifteen guys sharing about $2.5M (just over $165k each, on average).

I think we would have a more egalitarian distribution than most clubs too. For example, our top five on $3M (just my assessment) might be the cheapest top five in the NRL.

ANOTHER BRONCO SIGNS ON

Brisbane looks to have nailed down another international as the club’s re-signing spree continues.

Courier Mail reporter Pete Badel told NRL Tonight exclusively Kiwi back Jordan Kahu is set to recommit to the Broncos with a new contract.

“Jordan Kahu is staying at the Broncos,” Badel said.

“He had some interest from the Warriors, Stephen Kearney of course coached at the Broncos as an assistant, a big fan of Jordan Kahu, he blooded him in the Kiwis two years ago.

“They’re in the final stages of brokering a two or three year extension.”

Kahu’s re-signing will follow that of captain Darius Boyd’s, who revealed to foxsports.com.au this week he has agreed to a four-year extension.

You're assuming that we spent exactly the $7m this year. I believe there is a salary cap floor, which is 92.5% of the cap, I'd say we're somewhere in the middle. I don't know or care how much each player is on. The original opinion was that Fritchard was on $260k, I don't believe that to be the case.

Yeah fair enough. Valid points, all. I wouldn't be surprised if Fritchard was on $300k though. It was only a one year deal, and pretty much last minute while we had money to spend.

There's no way that Frank's on 260k. The average wage is 252k, most guys would be under that and there's no way we'd be paying a fringe first grade player that much. Frank would be on maybe $150k at the absolute most.

Most players get paid basically nothing to play footy. Players really need a higher revenue share and an increase in minimum wage so that players at least have some money after their body's are stuffed after years of constant physical punishment.

Doubt it. Would of been on 400+ at dogs and went well in his 1yr in UK. He also had a grst last year at dogs, to the point where a lot would of been saying he has a few yrs left in him.

150k gets you a Terepo, Alvaro. Frank wpuld of made side before either in rnd 1.

So if reports are to be believed
Milford - $1 million a year
Bird - $1 Million a year
Boyd - $900K a year
Glenn - $400K a year
Gillett - $500K a year
That is $3.8 Million (41% of projected $9.2M cap for next year) on 5 players and doesn't include Origin players McGuire, Thaiday, and Oates as well as test players Kahu, Nikorima and Blair. Granted a few of these guys made squads while still early in their career and woulds be on a relatively low figure you still have to wonder how questions aren't asked.

Multi year contracts you'd pull the first year back a bit as subsequent years you would expect rises commensurate with increases in the cap.

So for example you could have Boyd @ 900k per year over three years or @ 800k/900k/1m

And I think he proved in his handful of games for us that he's still a quality player. He was a preferred runner in our gameplan. His only downside was low minutes.

Complete guess..... But imo a guy like Gower gets a deal around 100k. Frank might be old but still would of had interest in UK and few other NRL clubs.
He was signed to make our top 17.

Well then you'd have to pay him 200k and have some other merkin stump up the remainder.

Yeah this may be right actually. Plus we need to start being more like Dogs. Now that he's off contract cha ching there's another 500k available salary cap

Well they did lose Moga, surely that frees up about 3m in Bronco dollars???

It was reported that Fritchard was on $150k and Mannah on $600k (which is about $300k more than I thought) but deduct LSP allowance he counts $300k on cap.

Unbelievable that Mannah receives that much for what he produces!

He was a failed Origin player in another life, but has been in decline and playing reduced minutes for some time now.

We should shop him around in England and use the $600K elsewhere.
