There’s never a dull moment at Parramatta and I’m hearing the Eels are engaged in a civil war at the moment between the football club and the leagues club.

The leagues club board, which hands the football club a generous grant every season in the hope of landing a strong team on the pitch, is angry that several KPIs haven’t been met.

My source tells me they believe the Eels are well behind other leading Sydney clubs when it comes to sponsorship and corporate support - an area that should be Parramatta’s strength given the team’s huge fan base.

Add to that the fact that the Eels promised so much on the field last season before being bundled out of the finals race in straight sets, and questions are being asked at Parramatta HQ."

Parramatta will have to shed a player if Jarryd Hayne comes back to the fold next season - and it may be their star performer of 2017.

Clint Gutherson was superb for the Eels last season in a variety of positions, proving himself a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ before suffering a knee injury that brought a premature end to his year.

Several rival clubs are keen on Gutherson and the Eels don’t want to sell him - but they may have no choice given Hayne’s hefty price tag.

With Rooster Dylan Napa also likely to come on board, Parra definitely have cap management issues to deal with in coming weeks."

When you talk about him not making the Sharks side - he played his first top grade game for them the week before he played for Tonga in the Pacific Test matches where he suffered a season ending knee injury in the opening stages of the game. Flanagan has said he had intended to use Williams extensively through the Origin period while they were without Graham and Fifita.

“Tony played a game last week and he was just starting to get back to what we were asking of him. He was changing the way he trained and played.

“He had been patient and has been working really hard in reserve grade. He got his opportunity against Wests Tigers and scored a try.

“He was coming back into week-to-week calculations for NRL.

“Then, obviously, with Origin coming up, this was going to be his time to stamp his authority.

“Now this happens in a rep game so it’s disappointing for T-Rex and the club.”

He would be IMO on a one year incentive based deal and will be used as depth rather than taking up a starting position from the opening game of the season.

Nah mate based on less than no evidence Glenn has convinced me that Williams is on five times base salary and a sign of our complete desperation to improve on a terrible season where we missed the finals again...

(Not having a go at you here Josh) Oh my god. What a load of rubbish. I think its pretty clear that Gutherson is BA's prodigal son. He loves the kid and for good reason. He always says he is the player first picked.

Couple that with the fact Hayne I would think is the last player BA would gravitate towards. I think if he came at the right price BA will take him of course, but wow was a stupid comment. Gutherson aint going no where.

And on the topic of Napa, obviously there has been some talk about (and I posted one piece I read) but has anyone actually got any real news here? Like is he a chance or is it all dribble? Those in the know feel free to PM me. I am a big Napa fan, I'd love him.

Lmao. I wouldn’t straight swap both Hayne and Napa for the king!!!! He’s the future, if BA even contemplates this, he may as well f**k off too!!!!

Well, the article stated that there was feuding between the Leagues Club board and the football club board. The Leagues club board being particularly upset that we need more sponsorship. And they are the ones who provide money to the football club. So it wouldn't be surprising to think that they might be putting pressure on the football club to sign jarryd Hayne (he might attract sponsorship and boost gate-takings and merchandise sales). As for letting Gutherson go - that's just silly. We'd more likely let Norman go.
