Because his best was as good as any merkin in the game. Even being past his best he is a quality first grader.Haynes gone and he’s best is way behind him. Can’t believe people want him back.

It's not debatable.
Hayne is definitely better than Taka.

He would be the best winger in our club. Would also be the best attacking centre. And he does a few things better from fullback than French or Gutherson. Like hindyeleven said, the key is not paying him too much. Not sure he’ll be an upgrade on anyone apart from taka, and even thats debatable. Also, would it be worth upgrading to Hayne if it costs us several thousand dollars and a key player???

What if Haynes on 700k cap wise and taka is on 250k? It allows us to sign another quality first grader.
It's something along the lines of a person who has a sharp sword and knows how to use it, but chooses to keep it sheathed.
Basically, those who show control.
I doubt that's an accurate description of millennials.
But what if Taka on $250k is allowing us to sign Hayne on $500-750k?
Upside is nice but we'll be looking to win the comp in 2018 before worrying about future years.French and guthbus have a lot of upside to an aging Hayne.
Hayne is a much better attacker than Jennings. And Jennings is good.In regard to your comments about being the best attacking centre, Michael Jennings says hello!

Why would we lose Gutherson? He is contracted until the end of 2019. Even if we signed Hayne for two years they would come off contract at the same time. Hayne would be 31 by then. We currently only have two players contracted for 2020, which means we have plenty of cap space for when Gutherson comes off contract. We’d have room for both of them if we wanted to keep both. And what if we sign Hayne but lose the guthbus because of it?
Hayne is a freak who can create opportunities and offers strong go forward. Jennings is just a finisher, albeit a very good one.Lmao. Hayne currently, is not a better attacking centre than Jennings.

Yeah apparently the king is gone

Why would we lose Guth??? I’m sure the reason we are able to sign Hayne is because we are in such a good posistion cap wise. And what if we sign Hayne but lose the guthbus because of it?

I'd say they're overestimating the relevance of one ordinary year at a shit club with a shot duck coach. While I agree Hayne should have offered more for the money he was on, the problem is how much he was paid. The player himself still showed plenty of ability. And while I suspect he contributed significantly to our shit culture while he was here, and then again at the Titans, the fact is we the fans don't know for sure. We can just observe and make an educated guess. But if we sign Hayne we would have to say Arthur has no worries about Hayne's effect on our culture. Was a freak. People are underestimating what the two years out of the game have done to Hayne.
He might've lost some speed, but he always had plenty to spare. It might just be a conditioning problem, which the coach would believe he can fix if the player returned. Hayne did win a Dally M in his last year under Arthur. He’s nowhere near as quick or agile. Looks completely uninterested.
