If we didn't really make him an offer as we said I find that interesting. For mine that really says that we didn't actually want him.

All of you are just $ signs to the modern Hayne player, they look out at the crowd and the food and drinks you are consuming and see your head as a dollar sign, your beer as a dollar sign and your meat pie as a dollar sign. All dollar signs look the same no matter what club you are at.

Most likely Beavis has said "The Titans are offering $X, how close can you get?" and the club has said "Arthur won't go higher than $X minus $Y." Beavis would have replied not to bother with the formal offer.

We might get Farah on the cheap for 1 year, tigers want him gone, might pay half his wages.
No harm in giving Cronks management a ring.

Did Parra give an offer, he says they didn't. If they did he'd be an Eel basically.

The media release from this morning which has already been posted said our board (all 3 of them) endorsed our offer of $833K per year.

No where does it say the offer was tabled.

We are in a completely f**ked up situation, and it is all our own fault. Don't blame him for not wanting to walk back into this shit show.
Why is this the prevailing opinion? Of course right now things aren't so good, but our situation for next year is looking pretty good to me. We're dealing with some injuries right now and we lost Foran, but we're still doing ok on the field, and we really shouldn't be, given our current injury/suspension/mental breakdown toll.

Hayne went where the best money was, plain and simple. No one can blame him for that.

I don't even care, I was always iffy about him returning anyways..

Well as long as they don't think the current players in the squad will win the comp and they actually sign plenty of new players instead then I'm not overly fussed.

I think it's actually promising that they didn't rush and throw bags of money at him to get him to sign.

Show's that we've grown up as a club and aren't afraid to make unpopular decisions.

I agree with Pou, I think this is exactly what happened.

Only because his manager f**ked up and disqualified Hayne from Wallabies money by letting him rn out for four mins with Fiji Union 7s - what a derp move that proved to be!
Who was he to stand in the way of his dreams???

He always dreamed to be a Titan as well I presume???

Yeah, it would play out like this;

Cronks Mgr - "Hello, this is Cooper's Manager, who's calling please?"
Max Donnelly - "Hey there Mr manager, it's Max Donnelly from the Eels here... just wonder if I could/"
[call disconnects]
beep beep beep
Max Donnelly - "Hello? ..... Hello? Damn, got cut off.... That merkin Steve Sharp mustn't have been paying the phone bills.... I'll call back later"

Do you think it's possible that we could be no chance of winning the comp next year whether we signed Hayne or not? We haven't made the finals for seven years. I'd say we're focusing on that first.

I'm angry that merkins are slashing their wrists over him. Get some f**king dignity Parra fans. No player is bigger than the club.
Yep, we shouldn't be concerned if a player currently or not currently with us signs for another club. There are other options out there and from what we've seen Arthur usually responds better with the lower tiered players and gets them to produce more.

It would have been fantastic to have Hayne back at the club and I was a huge supporter of bringing him back but just because it hasn't happened I'm not going to fault the club. This now allows us to focus on whether we want French or Gutherson at fullback next year whilst also upgrading and extending contracts of other players.

I've got no doubts that Brad Arthur is going to make the Eels great again.
