That's leadership. There's an article on The Telegraph site indicating that Max Donnelly wasn't interested in upping the offer due to 'team culture'.

I reckon Donnelly is very good at taking advice from the right people, and Arthur would have told him the upper limit of what Hayne is worth to this team.I'm sure an administrator knows all about team culture, so was BA outvoted???
He should't have any say about signings at all IMO.
Finally we have someone running the club who understands. Hopefully the next board are just as switched on.But Mr Donnelly said that offloading players to snap up a marquee signing was not in the interests of the club. “When you do it that way, you get taken advantage of,” he said. “By paying over the odds for any player, it compromises the rest of the roster. We’re not going to play that game.”
Which bits of the actual quotes from Max included the article are you doubting Suity?
Simpleton.

Just because you have cap space doesn't mean you want to spend it all on one player. We have 17 guys contracted but the other eight will cost at least $600k, and that's if they're on minimum salary. With a need for another hooker and halfback in the top 17 we surely didn't have that much to spend on a fullback that would make one of our other fullback options redundant. We have probably also got other signings that we haven't yet announced, meaning less to spend. To be honest it sounds like we were never in the ballpark of the Titans offer, but you probably have to ask why considering the 17 players that we have signed up for next season.
Are you disagreeing with the decision Max took regarding the size of the offer made to Hayne, Suity? We have someone running the club who you have found validates your opinion.
Well said Jake.
Hayne is not worthy to join Mick Cronin, Bob O'Reilly, Ray Price, Brett Kenny, Peter Sterling, and anyone else who has had part of our home ground named in their honour.
Hayne has shown through his disloyal, dishonourable actions and lies that he is not fit to lick the balls of any of the legends of this club - Cayless and Burt are also putting Jarryd to shame in terms of ongoing loyal contribution to the club.
Agree, and for him to say he never received an offer. Who is he kidding? We know our management is a mess but don't take for fools Hayne. There was an offer a decent one but he rushed for some odd reason to the Titans.
A DECISION IN FUTURE YEARS HE WILL REGRET ONCE HE LOOKS BACK.
This year BA has proved he can build/coach a team that can win without a superstar. If anything maybe BA has learnt from his mistake, that paying upwards of a mill is a mistake. Maybe that's why the eels declined to up there Initial offer. If we can snag Farah/seriago (spelling) and a decent half, we're in good stead. We have the core for an excellent team, that wants to play for the coach n
well now we have money to spend
Some targets I'd like for the club to look at
Nelson Asofa Solomona -250-300k
David Mead - 250k
Cooper Cronk - 1 mil
Kodi Nikorima (if not Cronk)
Nice try Beavis... spin, spin, spin!Beavis in another article now admitting there was an offer but not a formal one. Blaming parra for Hayne going to the Titans.

The recruitment decision on Foran was plenty less than $1M. It only became more after his TPAs were added onto the cap. This year BA has proved he can build/coach a team that can win without a superstar.
