All this talk about big forwards, have we forgotten about Magnus Stromquist @ Wenty ?

A big human and the right Aryan complexion for Ram.

He graduated from Sharkies U20s I thought and in our top 30, so apparently capable of playing NRL. That is what the top 30 is for isn't it?

He played in SG Ball last year (U/18's), so he's turning 19 this year and will probably debut for the club in Jersey Flegg. He's on a development contract for this year, which means we have to get special compensation for him to play first grade, basically when we have no one else in the top 30 who can play the position we want him to. Top 30 is for first grade yes, but Salmon isn't in the top 30 for this year, as of yet. We do have until the 30th of June to finalise the 30th spot so he may be in the top 30 by then.

But you wouldn't like him. He weighs under 150kgs

French is a freak as well. He has plenty of tackle breaking power. But receiving the ball against numbers, and near the sideline, obviously doesn’t suit his light frame. He is best running onto inside balls from his halves, like the disallowed try against Manly.

Yes he has potential to be great....

They aren't duds, just probably not first graders.

Saunders is more likely than Stromquist IMO

Atleast I know both our wingers can take a bomb and have decent hands, as opposed to Auva’a who makes me have a coronary everytime he gets bombed. Yea it maybe worse without Semi but we have to work with what we have unfortunately and the switch of Jennings back to his preferred side and Auva’a back to his preferred position is enough upside for me.

Don’t forget we have Gutho coming back eventually his a big body and a powerful runner we will improve that area.

The introduction of Edwards will also help our power moving forward.

He copped it on here deluxe when he was on the wing. One of the main complaints was his size and lack of metres from his own end.

I don’t rate Auva’a either as a winger and thought with Guths injury we were a back short.

How has George Jennings been going for Wenty??? Couldn’t do any worse than Auva’a.

Faster and more skillfull but not as powerfull. I dont think there is a lot between Auvau and Jennings or Davis.
GL is back this week and if he can fix his weakness he is a dynamo. Seems to have quite a few areas to work on.
Akafalou is a big boy but I reckon his younger brother Noel is a better prospect.

Guys at wenty you want playing are the backs I mentioned, Salmon, Mahoney, Nikauore, Stone, T rex and Vave. These guys could potentialy improve our first grade side and force someone out. At worse they are depth.
Stromquist like Gorman are just NSW cup guys not worth talking about. Just filling the squd.

And that Woods along with that Schulte also shit recruits who we invested time with along with Fogarty. Plenty on here raved they had awesome potential. Ha some wanted Schulte in firat grade ffs.

I think it’s safe to say that Gutho has improved a million since his winger days let’s be real.

He motors and his quite tall and doesn’t get dominated just a matter of how he is after the ACL.

Auva’a is not a winger his just not the man to have on the wing to go further.

I think it’s safe to say that Gutho has improved a million since his winger days let’s be real.

He motors and his quite tall and doesn’t get dominated just a matter of how he is after the ACL.

Auva’a is not a winger his just not the man to have on the wing to go further.

The main reason he improved because he was away from the wing.

It’s the position that uses the least of his strengths. Bev is Quick and can finish but that’s about all he offers on the wing. Which he can do from fullback.

Even the Roosters have blokes in their feeder squad that wouldn't be as good as Saunders, let alone play first grade.

But it didn’t? When he went back to the wing we instantly improved and he looked better, his a finisher.

It coincided with Moses coming into the team. We won 4 from 9 with him at fullback up until the Darwin game (Moses and Norman's first game together) and 3 from 3 later in the year when he went back to fullback.

No, you are oversimplifying.

and it’s quite evident again this year that a bigger body at fullback helps us starts our sets.

The entire back three helps start our sets, not just the fullback. The opposition will kick wherever they think they can get an advantage. But it's harder to trap French in the corner when he's at fullback.

Yes it may also occur on the wing but no where near as much as it does now.

Like I said last year was a prime example forget all other factors, Gutho at the back improved us infinitely.

Moses coming into the side improved our attack. Not King, not Gutherson at fullback. This is proven by us winning just as much when French went back to fullback.

We only lost three games after Darwin and Will Smith was at fullback for all of them.
