As usual bitch, criticise and complain without offering a solution. So Bazal and 84 which junior is good enough and big enough to partner Paulo?
In our system? None that are going to play 1st grade in any timeframe you'd be happy with. But my comments around our juniors are that there's potential but none who are going to step up quickly

But we still need to replace those 4 in the squad, and if we replace with only 1 player which costs what we paying 2 maybe 3 of those players it reduces our depth quality.

We already have Evans, Alvaro, Mannah, Brown, Moeroa (been playing more middle this year) and probably Paulo all on top 17 money.

We may be able to afford to spend some cap on another quality middle forward but doubt it would be anywhere near $400/$500k.

BTW I would keep Peni for the right price, decent back up. And Gower may have another year in him on a small contract but surely he could get a good deal in the UK.

I addressed that in a later post.

You lose Scott, Terepo, Matagi, Vave and Gower. Four of those guys are on top 17-ish money

Bring in Paulo (assuming he's signed), Ah Mau/TPJ, and nab a youngster or two like Pere, Tui, whatever. Re-sign one of Vave, Matagi or Gower if you have money and they will stay for a more modest deal (I'd offer it to Gower, because he can play anywhere in the pack)

Restructure our depth. We will need another first grade level middle forward, but we can also use some of the money from those backup middles to focus on depth elsewhere. We've got a lot of edge-of-first-grade middles.

I think that people still don't get it when I read statements like these. My concern isn't only with the identification and retention of juniors playing in our immediate lower grades, but in the scouting of juniors in our entire catchment area.

For there to be more or less only the quality of those sorts of players that you mentioned above coming through since basically the Hayne period of juniors is very ordinary for a club like ours. We are the second largest junior base. We should be producing at least 1 or 2 STANDOUT 1st grader/SOO/Oz rep potential player every min 2-3 years. We have produced none in around a decade. I think Tony Williams or maybe another player from around then was the last one and we couldn't hold onto him during his best years.

I expect a lot better from our club. Look at the Panthers. Gus had to go in there and rejig the whole joint and you guys pay him out constantly, but his club is killing it junior wise. Hell maybe even the Sharks are braining it in junior development compared to us at the moment.
Right. Now we have some common ground. I think in terms of our size we don't produce a comparative amount of NRL players, BUT they are still there and to suggest otherwise is foolish

On Tony Williams and his ACL injury. I have mentioned before in another thread that there are great advancements in stem cell therapy that can help and even cure many diseases and injuries(spinal and ligament). However the real advancements are made in private clinics outside most western (regulatory restrictive countries) like Australia.

In a nutshell, in countries like ours, stem cell therapy is available for example to help in the repair in an ACL injury, but only if the stem cells used are your own generally taken from stomach fat by way of liposuction. Now there is nothing wrong with that and it can work fairly well for most patients. But top line athletes are different in that they put their bodies through much more intense extremes then the average punter.

That is why I believe athletes, especially NRL players, need the best medical help available at present which is umbilical cord blood stem cell treatments, not your own stem cells. These stem cells are much more powerful. Don't be thrown off, they are often referred to as adult stem cells, but only because they are not embryonic stem cells anymore. Please note: I am not referring to embryonic stem cells which are harmful and should never be used on patients and where much of the controversy comes from.

But umbilical blood stem cells by all accounts are the bomb. Now within your regular umbilical cored stem cells there are even better more powerful healing stem cells that they can isolate and grow them by the hundreds of millions, which they have daubed Golden stem cells. These types can heal different conditions where other stem cells could not.

So I was wondering, I know no one at the club, but for you guys that do have contacts, maybe pass this on and see if this may help someone like Williams and see if they are willing to look at something like this. Remember, these things fix joints in about 3 months. I was listening to Boyd Cordner at the start of the season explaining the Oz liposuction stem cell treatment we do here that he underwent. Seems to have worked for him. But like I have said, there is an even better therapy out there and someone like Williams, the man mountain that he is and the second ACL in succession that he has done, may need that little bit of extra help. Shoot even King Gutho may opt to have a crack at it. They simply inject the knee with a standard needle full of these Super stem cells and they just go and do their work. That's it.

Below is the first episode of a 10 part series on this. Also below that is a Joe Rogan interview he did with Mel Gibson and his doctor on the stem cell therapy they did on his 92 year old dying dad who will now be turning 98 in August when the establishment medical system gave him two weeks. The doctor's clinic is in Panama and does some of the best work on this in the world by all reports. Also towards the end of the Rogan interview the doctor talks about spinal injuries that he has repaired and the patient is up and walking normal. But there is a slight catch. At this stage, you must undergo the treatment after 6 months of the injury and before the 2 years is up from the time of the injury. That seems to be when the stem cells can do there best work.

Disclaimer. This is just my opinion and anyone looking to go down this route should consult their medical professional.

Ever think that our best juniors are too young to be promoted for first grade. Just because a 19 year old isn't good enough to make first grade now doesn't mean that they won't be good enough next year or the year after, or in some cases a few years down the road. If we persist with the current set-up we'll be seeing a flood of juniors coming into contention for a top 30 spot I'd say from 2020 onwards. But don't fret there'll be a few young players that will be in the top 30 next year: Mahoney, Stone, Salmon, Aukafolau, Leleisiuao. Depending on how recruitment pans out one may be promoted this year into the top 30.

You compare us with the likes of the Broncos and Storm but they've had professional set-ups for a lot longer than we have. The Broncos it's a no-brainer basically, every kid up in QLD wants to play for the Broncos or Cowboys. Our system started somewhat in 2012 but wasn't at its best until about 2015.
Salmon is in top 30 and will come into contention this year if we lose Moses or Norman to injury .

The ability to essentially mass synthesise mesenchymal stem cells is a long way away. The ones who have undergone the therapy so far have gotten there's straight from the source essentially, which relies upon donations of the embryonic and/or birth material, so is limited, expensive and isn't without significant risks such as infection while the cells graft themselves or risk of contracting a genetic disease or retrovirus, and acceptance of the stem cells isn't 100% and for unsynthesised cells you only get one go per source material, meaning if you want a 2nd go you need a 2nd placenta/embryo/whatever which in turn increases the risk/cost.
But yeah hopefully the process of manufacturing these cells isn't too far away because every child of the 90s looked up to this bloke and some of the shit people believe these cells can do isn't too far away from him

It was a paragraph? What part could possibly be wrong? The part about Wolverine? Or are you saying people are already using synthesised cells?

What?

I thought both of you were actually quite reasonable and not far off parts of my understanding.

Which isn't great, I'm an ecologist

In the first place I don't advocate for synthesised cells and that is not what I am referring to here. You should run from virtually anything synthesised in the health environment.

Now leave me alone. I want to get back to my porn without interruption.

I don't think he actually read my post, and whilst I disagree it's likely to be viable for T-Rex, I do believe stem cells are our future. I mean children are our future and they are made of the shit

Why? Tbh I think that's a narrow minded view
