Yeah they forgot to spend it on decent halves. Instead they thought it would be a great idea to start games with the Australian frontrow and then get a cripple and a reserve grader to play in the halves. Smarter then Sticky that one.
Here's where you show your ignorance. These people have spent their lives in the game. They get paid a lot of money to understand it and assess risk effectively, yet you think they would forget to sign the best possible players to create an effective team.

The fact is there is a salary cap, and 16 clubs competing for players. It just isn't possible for everyone to have the complete team every year without any weaknesses. And even when a suitable player is available the club is hampered by the players already contracted there.

It was like he sat on his arse and did nothing all pre season. He signed Hayne, Trex and Evans.
For different reasons all 3 haven’t worked so far.
But to say BA hasn’t adapted and kept doing the same old is absolute BS!

Our piss poor style of play has been due to high penalty counts and tiredness due to too much defending. When fresh and with equal amount of ball we have shown we have a pretty good attacking style of play.
BA once again dropped a few players after a couple of round to try and counter the I’ll discpline.

Question the signing of the AFL bloke all you want, I did the moment we signed. But that also contradicts you saying BA hasn’t tried to adapt and change this year cause he clearly did with coaching staff personnel

Mate, you and everybody else that tows the same line(Pou) ask yourselves, why do we keep losing the possession stat? The better team, forwards in particular end up with the better possession. Especially when it counts, generally at the start of games. It can even out at the end because the dominating/winning team can ease off once they have perceived that the game has been won and then the possession stat ends up being skewed somewhat. But they had the lions share when it counted because they earned it and the win.

How hard is it to understand that? Pretty basic really. You earn possession it isn't just given to you and you can earn penalties too, which we seldom do.

I would have thought Minimizing errors, good defence, a good kicking game among other things have a fair bearing on having better possession stats. That’s not to say you are wrong about the forwards but they are only 1 small part of many other parts that add up to better possession stats.

The two most important things for deciding possession are handling and discipline. Anyone who has ever played a single match can tell you that.

The pack and your halves can certainly be important for field position depending how you play, but for possession you need to hold the ball and not give away too many penalties. You drop it a lot, or you give away a lot of penalties, then you defend more, you tire faster, and you make more errors and give away more penalties.

Can’t argue with that. Well I could but why bother there will be a few others who will and believe what they are saying

Lack of patience and discipline. Every pack gets bashed, including ours last year. The difference is last year we didn't let it get us flustered. This year we are and instead of taking our medicine and completing our sets we are trying to cut corners. Our support play off the ball also sucks, meaning defences can converge on the ball carrier. Only Gutherson is consistently supporting our forwards. We always seem to be setting up for the next play.

Except we had the same forwards last year and we got even possession nearly every week.

That’s a good analysis. I remember watching games last year thinking we are getting smashed in metres and field position but we would keep plugging away and eventually turn it around. Got to our kicks and relied on Moses and Norman to trap the opposition deep in the corners

Apparently Gutho does run a bit. More than ever now.

And this is why he is probably our best fullback, despite Hayne and French being better runners and better playmakers. Gutherson just does so much work, like Slater and Tedesco. That try Gutherson scored against Manly, someone mentioned nobody else in our team would have scored that and someone else arced up about it, saying Hayne would have scored it easily. But that merkin missed the point. He was thinking just from the point where Gutherson caught the ball, in which case plenty of our players would have scored the try. But players like Hayne (or anyone else in our team) wouldn't have even been there to take Moses' pass. Therefore they wouldn't have scored the try.

I agree. Although not necessarily about French being a better playmaker. French can be tricky but Gutho seems like he can engage more defenders.

Well 5 more minutes and my youngest is 13 which means 3 teenagers in the house. So I’m going to sleep now for 5 years and hopefully wake up with them all gone. Goodnight

He was well ahead of Gutherson's numbers. Moses was best, followed by Norman, French and Ma'u. But French only played half the season at fullback. Gutherson only played nine games, so the samples weren't the most reliable.
